Was Paul Mescal Doing Drugs at Glastonbury Music Festival?

Irish actor Paul Mescal attended the Glastonbury Music Festival in Somerset, England last June. Recently, however, footage surfaced where the 28-year-old looked like he was sniffing cocaine.

In the controversial video shared by the Sun, the BAFTA-awarded celebrity could be seen placing his finger inside a small bag before bringing his finger to his nose and taking a whiff.

A witness reported, “Paul looked like he used a key to scoop some substance out of a bag which he lifted to his nose and sniffed. He did it once then he dipped the key back into the bag and lifted it to his nose and sniffed again.”

The star was allegedly having a “wild time” as he watched performances and partied. He was in The Other Stage before the incident happened.

The same source added, “Paul didn’t seem to care if anyone could see him. He was dancing and laughing with his friends.”

At the beginning of the festival, his co-star from Normal People, Daisy Edigar-Jones was with him but she left the event around 20 minutes later.

Public Reacts With Skepticism

Of course, folks from social media were quick to react. Most of them weren’t bothered and didn’t think it was a big deal.

When The Sun shared the article on Facebook, Joanna Newton commented, “Who cares, it’s a festival. I’m sure most people were doing something illegal🤣🤣.”

“Thought it’s the main reason to have a festival…,” another netizen humorously added.

“Oh shock horror not at Glastonbury,” posted Lana Stancer sarcastically.

Before he was caught on camera with a possibly illicit substance, he was seen onstage as the familiar notes of country singer Shania Twains’ “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” began to play. He ended by singing the famous line, “Let’s go girls!”

BBC later uploaded the video to their Instagram account, prompting Twain to acknowledge it with, “Love it!!” and several laughing emojis.

At the event, Mescal was dressed casually, wearing shorts, a gray shirt, and a cap.

Paul Mescal’s Claim to Fame

Mescal became famous by taking on the role of Connell Waldrom in the 2020 television show Normal People. The program grew in popularity and later earned him an  Emmy nomination and a Best Actor award from BAFTA.

He was also part of the cast of The Lost Daughter and will be seen in Ridley Scott’s newest film Gladiator 2.
