Vin Diesel Extends an Olive Branch to Dwayne Johnson at Golden Globes 2025
Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose bad blood dates back nearly a decade, appeared to have made some strides toward reconciliation at the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5.
Presenting the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Vin Diesel turned heads when he paused mid-speech to address his once-estranged co-star. Flashing a smile at Dwayne, he simply said, “Hey, Dwayne.” The Rock acknowledged the gesture with a nod and a faint smile, though the exchange left fans speculating whether the wounds from their feud have truly healed.
The drama between the two action stars began brewing back in 2016 during the filming of The Fate of the Furious. Dwayne made headlines when he took to Instagram with a scathing post that didn’t name names but called out certain male co-stars as “chicken s–t” and “candy asses.” While fans were initially left guessing, he later confessed that he experienced issues while filming with Vin.
Despite the tension, Vin tried to keep things civil—at least publicly. Over the years, he praised Dwayne’s contributions to the Fast & Furious franchise and even made a heartfelt plea for him to return for Fast X. “As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come,” Vin wrote in a 2021 Instagram post.
The post, however, didn’t sit well with Dwayne, who called it “an example of [Vin’s] manipulation.” In an interview with CNN later that year, Dwayne expressed his frustration, saying, “I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it.”
For a while, it seemed like the two stars remained at odds. But in a surprising turn of events, the duo reportedly buried the hatchet in 2023. Dwayne announced his return to the franchise for Fast X: Part 2 and took to social media to share the news. “Last summer, Vin and I put all the past behind us,” he wrote on X. “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve—and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”
The Golden Globes moment might have been brief, but it was enough to reignite buzz around their relationship. Was Vin’s shoutout a genuine gesture of goodwill, or just a savvy move to keep fans guessing?
