Usher Is Married! R&B Singer and Longtime Girlfriend Tie the Knot After Super Bowl
Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea are married days after securing their Las Vegas marriage license.
Marriage rumors started circulating after he flashed a gold wedding band on his left finger during the release party for his newly released album at Cathédrale. The confirmation that everyone was waiting for finally happened thanks to People which declared that the two are now legally married.
After Usher’s successful halftime show at last Sunday’s NFL game, the 45-year-old rapper was seen wearing the gold band, and the internet didn’t miss this tiny detail. As they went on their first outing as a newlywed couple, the two appeared loved up and very cozy with one another. There were several instances where they hugged and they always had one arm wrapped around one another as they celebrated Usher’s new record, Coming Home.
While Usher’s ring was visible, his wife’s was concealed under a white glove. During the party, Usher wore a fuzzy white coat over an all-black ensemble while his 39-year-old wife looked gorgeous in her off-shoulder white blouse and matching pants.
The two wore sunglasses inside the venue and appeared to be on cloud nine, enjoying their first hours as husband and wife.
Records indicate that Usher and Jennifer got their marriage license on February 8 in Clark County. The “OMG” singer’s spiritual adviser, Amba Kahly Su, is said to have significantly influenced the singer’s decision to finally tie the knot.
The wedding was said to be an intimate affair, with only family and close friends invited.
Usher’s union with Jennifer is his second marriage. He was previously wedded to Tameka Foster, a fashion designer with whom he shares two sons, 16-year-old Usher “Cinco” Raymond V and 15-year-old Navid Ely.
Usher and Jennifer have two children together: 3-year-old Sovereign Bo and 2-year-old Sire Castrello.
The newlyweds have been together for quite a while. They started their romantic relationship in October 2018 when Jennifer was pictured attending the R&B icon’s birthday celebration.
One year later, Usher was snapped sharing a backstage kiss with the Miami-born music executive at the October 2019 Hollywood Bowl. The two have also been attending red-carpet events together, including Vanity Fair’s 2023 Oscar party. Additionally, they have been posting pictures of each other on their Instagram accounts.
When Jennifer celebrated her 39th birthday last year, Usher paid tribute to the mother of his children and wrote, “I couldn’t ask for a better partner. Happy birthday, my love.”
Last week, on the same day they obtained their marriage license, Usher appeared on The Talk. He confirmed that his entire family would be attending the Super Bowl to watch and support him. Talking about his son from his first marriage, he stated, “I’ve been receiving tons of notes from Naviyd. He gave me a couple of notes. He gave me a few songs he felt like I should definitely cut, songs I should keep.”
The father-of-four also shared his struggles in balancing his family and his R&B superstardom, saying, “My kids—sometimes, they don’t want me to come. They don’t want me to be at their basketball game or their recital, or they want to be very, very low-key because they don’t want that energy. And it’s hard because I try my hardest to have that empathy, but I wanna be there.”
