The OG Models Are Back! Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista Reunite With Donna Karan for Spring Campaign
The eighties supermodels are back, and they’re back with a vengeance!
Donna Karan announced last week that she’s launching a major relaunch of her spring 2024 campaign which she dubbed In Women We Trust. This is no ordinary campaign because it features some of the biggest names in the fashion industry.
Some of the supermodels who will be featured in the upcoming campaign are Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Shalom Harlow, Amber Valletta, and Carolyn Murphy. Joining the OGs are Imaan Hammam, Liya Kebede and Karlie Kloss. The woman behind the camera will be photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Linda talked about Donna’s special touch in People magazine, saying, “Donna believed more in women than anybody. You can be whoever you want to be in her clothes.”
Recalling her younger years when she worked with the designer, Linda shared, “I remember the pep talks before the fashion shows. The backstage felt more personal. She would try to instill this confidence in us, but once you were wearing her clothes, you didn’t need it. Donna’s been part of the milestone moments that I’ve had.”
Linda added, “Donna does represent both strength and sensuality.” Singing nothing but praises, the model who was the face of Clairol and Chanel continued, “Donna Karan really stood the test of time.”
Cindy Crawford agreed, saying, “She introduced a new style of power dressing, which celebrated women and their bodies. That was her sweet spot, and it still is.”
American actress and model Amber, said in a release, “In Women, We Trust is such a powerful statement. We need more women to lead us into the future because women think differently.”
She reiterated, “It’s not about the clothes; it’s always been about the woman in the clothes.”
The company’s theme for the Spring 2024 campaign will be “a resounding celebration of the brand’s iconic heritage that now marks a new chapter in both legacy and future.” It is dubbed as the collection of the new era of accessible luxury.
Recall that Donna launched her very first collection in 1985 under her namesake label. The price range for her first collection ranged from $159 to $559.
For the upcoming campaign, Donna will employ her social media channels where each of the eight women will be highlighted together with their inspiring stories.
The Spring 2024 collection will be available through the brand’s website and selected retailers.
The new campaign comes after Cindy and Linda became part of The Supermodels, a four-part show that focused on the top models of the 80s. Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington were part of it.
The series was directed by no other than Academy Award winners Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bills. It was produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. The series debuted globally last September 20.
The logline of the show reads, “The Supermodels travels back to the 1980s when four women from different corners of the world united in New York. Already forces in their own right, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcended the industry itself.”
The four-episode show takes a closer look at the supermodels as they looked back on their careers. They describe how they started and the challenges they experienced in the fashion industry.
