The Devil Wears Prada Cast Reunites at the 2024 SAG Awards – Here’s What They Did
The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ceremony was a star-studded affair. The carpet teemed with celebrities like Jeremy Allen White, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, and dozens more.
Among all of them, three specific stars stood out, and here’s why. They reunited after almost 18 years, to the absolute joy of the lovers of their film.
The 2024 SAG Awards reunited Meryl Streep (74), Anne Hathaway (41), and Emily Blunt (41) to present the award for Male Actor in a Comedy Series on stage. Their interaction was iconic, just like their characters in the film The Devil Wears Prada (2006).
Here’s what Miranda Priestly, Andrea Sachs, and Emily Charlton had to say.
The 74-year-old Academy Award-winning actress got on stage only to reveal she had forgotten her glasses and the envelope. Luckily, her assistants, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, came to her rescue onstage.
Blunt joked about how Meryl and she looked “sort of like twins.” She was wearing Prada, after all. Hathaway said, “I don’t think I’m anything like Miranda Priestly.”
However, before Streep could say anything, Hathaway added, “No, no, that wasn’t a question,” in pure Miranda Priestly style.
After the three announced the winner—who was none other than Jeremy Allen White from The Bear, a popular awards show darling—Blunt took a hilarious dig at Streep’s character, reciting her famous line, “By all means, move at a glacial pace, you know how that thrills me.”
Streep and Blunt were dressed to the nines in Prada, while Hathaway wore a cerulean blue Atelier Versace SS15 Couture look. Very fitting for their characters, indeed.
The 2024 SAG Awards were quite special because Blunt was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for “Kitty” in Christopher Nolan’s critical and commercial 2023 hit, Oppenheimer.
In an interview back in December, Hathaway told Blunt, “This is so embarrassing because I remember every second of the first time I met you. I’m so much more into you than you are into me. It’s fine,” she said, recalling the good old days when the two first met.
“I remember instantly just thinking, ‘What a movie star.’ You were shedding stardust,” the Princess Diaries actress said. “You were so good to me even though you were a colossal movie star at that time. You treated me like a complete equal to you always.”
Blunt admitted that she was in awe of her co-star, too! Clearly, the cast—even after years of working together—remain on very friendly terms and close well-wishers of each other.
Maybe a second The Devil Wears Prada is long overdue?
Not too long ago, when asked about it, here’s what Hathaway had to say: “There’s not going to be a sequel. It’s not gonna happen. It’s just like, we can’t do it.”
Aside from The Devil Wears Prada, the 2024 SAG Awards also hosted the reunions of other highly acclaimed casts of Breaking Bad, Modern Family, and The Fly. These definitely made the award show one to remember!
