Taylor Swift Likely To Skip the Grammy’s as She Brings Her Eras Tour to Japan
Taylor Swift is enjoying an all-time high professionally and personally. However, many fans and fellow celebrities are disappointed by the news that the singer will not be performing at the upcoming 66th annual Grammy Awards.
According to People, the 34-year-old will not perform on stage because of her hectic tour schedule. Taylor is scheduled to travel to Japan for her Tokyo Eras leg, which is scheduled for February 7 to 10. After Japan, the “Enchanted” hitmaker will travel to Australia, specifically to Sydney and Melbourne.
Taylor has been nominated for six Grammys this year, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. She was also nominated for Midnights, her well-received and highly successful album, and its hit single “Anti-Hero,” which resulted in some of Taylor’s best reviews and praises.
The same song is now vying for the Record of the Year award, a Grammy category that “honors the artists who recorded the song and its producers and engineers.” “Anti-Hero” also has the potential to become Song of the Year, an award recognizing songwriters’ artistry and passion.
Note that Taylor and Jack Antonoff, her regular collaborators, were nominated for Song of the Year because of “Anti-Hero.” The superstar, who started as a country crooner, also scored a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance for her single. Then, “Karma,” a collaboration with Ice Spice,” was also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Completing her nomination was Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights and the much-coveted Album of the Year.
Taylor is poised to make history in the Album of the Year category. She tied for three previous wins with iconic musicians and singers Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, and Frank Sinatra. If her Midnights award pulls through, she will make history as the first-ever woman to win the category four times.
This year, most of Taylor’s schedule is dedicated to touring internationally. Her last tour for 2024 is scheduled in Vancouver, British Columbia, on December 8.
She is slated for some US performances during the last quarter of the year, specifically in New Orleans and Miami, this coming October and then three dates in early November in Indianapolis.
Taylor’s beau, Travis Kelce, confirmed that he won’t be able to attend the Grammys because of his practice with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, in preparation for the Super Bowl.
When interviewed on the Pat McAfee Show, the football star shared, “I wish I could go and support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she is nominated for. But I think I’ve got practice on Sunday, or is it a travel day? No, I’ve got practice on Saturday; Sunday is a travel day. I’ve got to get ready for this big old Super Bowl.”
Travis and Taylor’s romance began last year. The tight end began publicly wooing Taylor and announcing his intentions during various interviews. By September, Taylor was in the stands of Travis’ football game, cheering him on.
