Sofia Richie Welcomed a Baby Girl With Husband Elliot Grainge

Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge welcomed a baby girl on Monday, May 20.

The youngest daughter of international superstar Lionel Richie shared the heartwarming news on Instagram. Richie posted a black-and-white photograph, showing the new parents holding their daughter’s tiny feet. The caption read, “Eloise Samantha Grainge 🤍5•20•24 best day of my life🤍”.

“Now it really is a family of three 🥹💕,” her husband Elliot Grainge, the successful CEO of indie label 10K Projects, commented.

The babe’s middle name seems to be a nod to Ellliot’s late mom who passed away in 2007 due to complications during childbirth.

Her adorable post was met with congratulatory messages from friends and family.

“I now have a new favorite EG. sorry Elliot🐧💕”, her sister Nicole Richie joked while Nicole’s husband dubbed her “❤️❤️❤️The ⭐️ of the family❤️❤️❤️.”

Hailey Bieber, who is also expecting a child with Justin Bieber, commented “Congratulations 🥹🥹💗💗💗.”

Kylie Jenner echoed the sentiment while Katy Perry honored the little one as “Our QUEEN.”

Some fans thanked the model for giving the infant a normal name. After all, celebrities have been known to give their babies weird names to help them stand out from the crowd.

Yes, we’re looking at you, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay-Z for naming your baby Blue Ivy. In a similar vein, Elon Musk and Grimes named their child Exa Dark Sideræl and X Æ A-Xii. Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin christened their offspring Apple. And of course, who could forget Kim and Kanye for names like North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm?

Richie announced her pregnancy in an exclusive interview with Vogue in January. The social media celebrity claimed she discovered she was expecting very early.

“I was about four weeks pregnant. I was on a trip to Milan for Fashion Week, and I was going to the Prada show. I was doing a really quick 24-hour turnaround, and I felt terrible but didn’t think much of it. I thought it was jet lag,” she recalled.

Before heading to an Ed Sheeran concert, the star said she took a pregnancy test because she thought there might be a lot of alcohol that night. “I was a few days late on my period, and I wanted to be generally safe, so I took a test,” she added.

The record executive revealed they’ve been “casually trying” since they got married in the South of France in April 2023. Her intuition turned out to be spot on—and three of the best pregnancy tests Elliot could find in CVS confirmed that.

“It was crazy and overwhelming and so hard not to scream it from the rooftops. But knowing I was so early, I was so protective—even with my friends,” she said looking back.

While they shared the news with their parents at the eight-week mark, the pair continued to keep the announcement hush-hush. And they intend to continue keeping a low profile for their child.

“I’m not going to publicize my child on Instagram. I don’t plan to take that approach because I want my kid to have the option to do what she wants with her life. If she wants to be a private person, I want her to be able to make that choice, and if she wants to be a public person, she can make that choice for herself,” Richie firmly declared.
