Simone Biles Reacts to a Paris Nightclub Charging $26K for a Single Bottle of Champagne

Simone Biles revealed a nightclub in Paris tried to scam her—BIG time.

The 27-year-old superstar opened up about the incident in a video posted on her TikTok page on August 19. She narrated the jaw-dropping charge while putting makeup on.

Serving looks AND tea? It’s giving MOTHER.

“We had closing ceremonies at the Olympics. I went, and after that, we went out,” the gymnastic champion said. “You guys, this club tried to charge me $26,000 for a bottle of champagne. Like are you insane?”

Biles noted she “obviously didn’t buy” it since she found the price outrageous.

“But why would you even try to play me like that?” she added. “Like, that’s wild!”

Biles didn’t name names, but eagle-eyed fans assume it’s L’Arc Paris—an upscale disco club that received premium real estate on her Instagram story on August 12, a day after the closing ceremony of the Olympic games.

This year, she won four medals: three gold and 1 silver, becoming the most decorated gymnast in history.

Biles once admitted that she has “a fear of going broke.”

In an episode of Kneading Dough with Maverick Carter, the three-time Olympian shared she spends her wealth wisely by being frugal.

“And then, of course, my gas light come on so I have to go get gas.” But besides the necessities, as well as the occasional trip to Subway, she says, “I never really swipe the [credit] card.”

This comes from an athlete who has amassed several multi-million dollar partnerships with the likes of Nike and Hershey. Her attitude may seem a bit extreme, but not entirely unheard of in the sports world.

American figure skater Adam Rippon appears to be on the same page. He told CNBC that he is frugal about most things but believes in investing in self-care.

“You should be saving money, you should be doing everything you can to plan for the future, but I think that it’s important to celebrate what you have now,” he shared.

He then highlighted the importance of balancing it with reward.

“If you have the money saved up, and you’re not doing something crazy, then you should go out and you should do that. That’s what making money is for,”  Rippon concluded.

As of January 2023, Rippon’s net worth was pegged at $4 million while Biles’ fortune is believed to be around $25 million.
