Selena Gomez Can’t Wait To Be A Mom: “I’m So Excited For It”

Selena recently shared her excitement about having kids while speaking on the March 24 episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast. Benny Blanco, 37, also expressed his own hopes of one day playing their joint album, I Said I Love You First, for their children.
Selena, who got engaged to Benny in December, spoke about her deep love for kids, mentioning her 11-year-old sister, Gracie, whom she absolutely adores. “I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it,” she said.
Benny couldn’t help but praise his fiancée’s way with kids, as he referred to her as “the ultimate level of shy.” But whenever there are kids around, that changes completely.
She immediately goes to them and has conversations for hours, Benny said, suggesting that her background as a child star might play a role in her natural ability to connect with young people.
“You shaped so many young people’s lives, whether it was Barney, Wizards [of Waverly Place]… you’re still finding your way to do that,” Benny continued.
Benny also compared Selena to his mom, saying they both prefer to blend into a crowd and wait for the perfect moment to say something truly meaningful. “But I’m gonna have diarrhea of the mouth talking to everyone,” he joked.
During the podcast, Jay Shetty brought up Selena’s previous interview with Time, where she had said that if she hadn’t met a partner by 35, she planned to adopt. Reflecting on how things changed, she admitted, “Well I think first of all making plans and trying to stick to them is silly because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Now, she says she “can’t believe” she gets to marry her best friend.
Selena shared how she found peace with being alone before meeting Benny. “I was alone for five years and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years, and then I kind of accepted it,” she said, adding, “Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone…It just happens when you least expect it.”
The couple confirmed their romance in December 2023 after being linked since June of that year. They made their first official public appearance as a couple at the 2024 Emmys in January.
