Selena Gomez Admits She’s Not A “Cool” Party Guest — Here’s Why!

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco may be one of the most talked-about couples in music, but according to Selena, they might not be the coolest guests at a party! In a fun chat on Spotify’s Countdown To on March 19, the lovebirds shared memories about their relationship while cruising through Los Angeles in a retro convertible.
Benny, 37, turned to his fiancée, 32, and asked, “What was our first party that we ever went to?”
Selena laughed before revealing a slightly embarrassing moment from their early days together. “I don’t know if this was the first, but it was actually really funny. As a couple, we went to Taylor [Swift]’s party after some awards show.” But the problem? They showed up way too early!
“…I was mortified. Apparently, cool people don’t show up to parties on time,” the singer confessed. Benny couldn’t resist teasing her, saying, “We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you. You show up when like my mother shows up to a party!”
It turns out, keeping things low-key wasn’t easy for them at first. “No, I thought you were gonna talk about the fact that no one knew we were dating and we were hiding,” Benny added.
Of course, Selena and Taylor, 35, have been best friends for years. They first met back in 2008 when they were both dating Jonas brothers — Taylor with Joe and Selena with Nick. So when Selena and Benny got engaged in December 2024, Taylor wasted no time in celebrating.
“Yes, I will be the flower girl,” Taylor hilariously commented on Selena’s Instagram post announcing the engagement. The comment racked up nearly two million likes, proving that fans love their friendship just as much as they do.
Meanwhile, Selena and Benny are not just making headlines with their love story — they’re also making waves in music! Their joint album, I Said I Love You First, drops on March 21. Ahead of the release, they’ve already given fans a taste with three singles: Scared of Loving You, Call Me When You Break Up (featuring Gracie Abrams), and Sunset Blvd. Their latest song, Bluest Flame, even got a surprise debut at the A24 x IMAX screening of Spring Breakers in New York City on March 19.
