Ryan Reynolds Reveals His Favorite Angsty Taylor Swift Song

You read that right. Ryan Reynolds is a Swiftie and has a favorite song that he knows word for word to prove it.

The Deadpool actor made the surprising revelation while hanging out with his famous friends Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy. According to Reynolds, “Betty” from Swift’s Folklore album is his fave track.

It might seem like an odd choice given that the song is about a bully who victimizes a girl named Betty. Its lyrics go:

You heard the rumors from Inez

You can’t believe a word she says most times

But this time, it was true

The worst thing that I ever did

Was what I did to you

“Come on, man,” Ryan said to his pals as he defended his choice. “I’m in my folklore and evermore era.”

Before the reveal, Levy and Jackman took turns guessing Reynold’s favorite Taylor Swift song.

Jackman suggested, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” The reason? “He sang it to me on the very last day of the shoot,” Hugh recalled. “Word for word.”

Levy, the director of the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie, ventured a guess with “Gorgeous.” It was mainly because the beginning of the track includes a brief voice clip of Reynolds’ nine-year-old daughter James.

However, the two Hollywood A-listers missed the fact that “Betty” mentions all three children that Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively share—4-year-old Betty, 7-year-old Ines, and James.

The following lines are in different parts of the song:

Betty, I know where it all went wrong

She said “James, get in, let’s drive”

You heard the rumors from Inez

Reynolds Children Get a Special Acknowledgment From Taylor Swift

Last May 29, the Reynolds family attended Swift’s concert in Madrid and Swift gave the kids a special acknowledgment.

“I have to say that on Folklore,” she told the crowd, “some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez, and Betty.”

Like countless kids out there, Lively and Reynolds’ three children are fans of Taylor Swift.

“We’re headed straight to the porch where we’re doing a full dance number set to ‘Midnights,’ swear words included,” Ryan narrated on The Jess Cagle Show in 2023. “My favorite thing is when a 3-year-old is just throwing down the F-bomb in a song and has no idea.”

Swift’s friendship with the family reportedly began with Blake Lively in 2015. At the time, Swift and Lively were working on separate projects at the Movie World theme park owned by Warner Brothers.
