Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day Reprise Their SNL Beavis and Butt-Head Characters at Movie Premiere

Last month, Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day took part in an SNL comedy skit where they dressed like 90s cartoon characters Beavis and Butt-Head. The sketch was an instant hit and has earned over 13 million views on YouTube. On April 30, they reprised their rib-tickling roles in the Los Angeles premiere of The Fall Guy.

The La La Land actor chose a mint-green Gucci suit for the premiere of his latest movie and happily posed for photos with Fall Guy co-star Emily Blunt.

Gosling later returned in a blonde wig, looking almost unrecognizable. He wore a prosthetic nose and was seen sporting his character Beavis’ signature blue “Death Rock” T-shirt with gray cargo shorts. Day accompanied The Nice Guys actor in a spiky black wig, a dark gray T-shirt with “skull” written on it, and red shorts.

Dressed in classic Beavis and Butt-Head attire, the two posed for photos together though they didn’t conduct interviews in character.

Gosling and Day first debuted the characters in an SNL skit where an “AI expert” was being interviewed. The famous MTV 1990s duo, known for their lack of intelligence, then appeared in the audience.

The two kept distracting Kenan Thompson, who played the role of Professor Norman Hemming, an M.I.T. Dean of Technology. As SNL cast member Heidi Gardner interviewed him, Hemming had trouble focusing on the conversation because of the two audience members who bore a striking resemblance to Beavis and Butt-Head.

Gosling and Day changed seats so they wouldn’t be within the professor’s eyesight. However, they eventually found themselves seated beside each other, which is when it became tough for even the cast members to not laugh.

Thompson later admitted he, “cracked so hard at dress rehearsal.”

“I haven’t had a break like that in a while where I was in tears and I couldn’t talk,” he admitted.

“It was that funny to me and what I was about to say next was funny to me. And I was frozen. I was literally quivering and then I started to panic. Because I was like, I can’t talk without cry-talking. I don’t want to waste the line! It could throw off everything. It was like, three seconds of just chaos,” the American comedian said.

The sketch, which marks Gosling’s third stint as a guest host, seriously challenged Thomson and Gardner’s ability to maintain straight faces. The video upload has since gone viral. It has been viewed more than 13 million times on YouTube and is being hailed as one of the best skits in the show’s history.

The Fall Guy, directed by David Leitch, follows Gosling as Colt Seavers. Seavers is a battle-scarred down-and-out stuntman looking for an actor he once doubled for. It’s a bombastic movie with great action sequences and a steady mix of romance and drama. Aside from Blunt and Gosling, it also stars Hannah Waddingham, Lee Majors, Teresa Palmer, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. See it when it hits theaters this Friday.
