Rod Stewart Cancels Two More Shows After Testing Positive for COVID-19
After postponing his 200th performance in Las Vegas, the legendary Rod Stewart announced that he had to call off two more concerts because of COVID-19.
The rock-pop singer shared on Instagram last Friday, August 9, “We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart’s concert in Stateline, NV and his August 10 concert in Lincoln, CA have been postponed as the singer recovers from a summer strain of COVID-19.”
The singer added that his two concert dates have been moved to August 18 and 20. “Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets as they will be honored for the rescheduled shows,” he wrote in the same post.
Rod Stewart’s Previous Concert Cancellation
The latest postponements occurred after Stewart canceled his 200th show at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace.
The reason behind his August 7 cancellation was strep throat. He posted on Instagram at the time, “I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration. Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.”
Stewart continued, “I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.”
His 200th performance was supposed to be the final show of his 13-year residency which began in 2011. After his Las Vegas shows, he was to embark on a North American tour until September 15 followed by a European leg.
Last Wednesday; however, Stewart announced that he will “now be returning in 2025” at Caesar’s Palace for The Encore Shows. He is expected to return to its stage in March 2025.
“Vegas, I’m having too much fun for this to end so we are coming back for an encore!” Stewart said on social media.
Ready for Another 15 Years of Partying
Last July, the British singer-songwriter revealed that he plans to continue partying until his 90s. He told The Sun, “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear. We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few—probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
The 79-year-old also admitted that he still enjoys drinking. “The older you get, the more you have to do that. Water has a hell of a lot to do with it. But no, you think I just have water on my rider? You’re talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show. There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians, and I make them drink. We absolutely love it,” he exclaimed.
