Pink Encourages Fan Who Went Into Labor During Her Concert
Throughout her decades-long career, Pink has become known as an outspoken, individualistic non-conformist. But during her concert in Australia last February 9, the music artist also showed that she is a compassionate human being. While belting out one of her songs, she suddenly stopped singing upon noticing that a member of her audience had gone into labor. She even went so far as to share a few words of encouragement.
Despite the bright lights onstage, Pink noticed a small commotion in the crowd. A pregnant woman was being wheeled out of her concert by one of the medics on site. Surprisingly, the 44-year-old “So What” hitmaker paused in the middle of “Our Song” to find out what was going on.
When she discovered that the concertgoer was experiencing contractions, the mother-of-two excitedly asked if the baby-to-be was a girl or boy.
The singer asked, “Is it Alicia or Alex being born?”
Pink then sweetly congratulated the laboring mom and offered her words of encouragement: “That’s exciting. I don’t even know what to say. But we have to sing now. Good luck! It’s gonna be great! You’re gonna do great.”
She then urged the crowd to give the pregnant lady some privacy and Pink shifted the attention back to her music.
“Wow, ‘Our Song,’ that was the one that did it. I wouldn’t have called that one! I thought it would’ve been ‘Get The Party Started’ or ‘Never Not Gonna Dance Again,” she said referencing her more upbeat songs.
Pink seems to attract pregnant women. During her concert in Boston last August at Massachusetts’s Fenway Park, another fan named Angela Mercer also went into labor. It was reported that she gave birth to a healthy son.
Angela, who was then 31 weeks pregnant, traveled all the way to Boston from Albany, New York, with her family to attend Pink’s Summer Carnival Tour. The expectant mother attended the show with her mom Barbara, and sister-in-law Amy.
Unfortunately, the trio, who also used the trip as a girls’ day out, didn’t fully enjoy the concert because Angela started having contractions just a little after the event started.
After a quick consultation with her doctor over the phone, they left the venue and headed to the nearest hospital. Due to the ongoing event, getting a ride was difficult and the traffic was crazy.
Angela and her family decided that the fastest and surest way to get to Brigham was to walk so that’s what they did, decked out in their concert outfits.
Pink and her husband, Carey Hart, share two children, 12-year-old Willow and 6-year-old Jameson. The couple married in Costa Rica in 2006.
Recall that earlier this year, Pink revealed that she and her husband’s marriage almost ended in divorce before reaching their 18th wedding anniversary.
She wrote on her Instagram account, “We almost didn’t make it to this one, well a couple of them, if I’m being honest. When I met you 22 years ago, I just wanted someone that wouldn’t lie to me. I didn’t have a clue about commitment, building a life together, intimacy, trust. It’s f—ing hard. But man, if I’m not humbled by the surprise of loyalty, history, forgiveness, and resilience. How love rearranges itself and reappears after an empty night or five. I’m proud we made it to the other side of this year.”
