Paris Hilton Sparks Heated Car Seat Debate
Paris Hilton’s car seat setup has sparked a huge debate online.
In her latest TikTok, posted Monday, the American socialite showed off her “new #SlivingMom van.” Fans and followers are less than impressed.
The cute video footage of 1-year-old Phoenix and 6-month-old London in their best Mother’s Day brunch outfits quickly went viral—and it wasn’t because of their cute clothes.
Hilton’s little ones were placed in their seats facing forward. This goes against safety guidelines as it doesn’t protect their heads and necks in the event of a crash.
The TV personality’s followers mentioned the risks of installing the seats incorrectly. One social media user shed light on the proper way to configure the seats, writing, “Please dble chk [sic] the car seat manu’s recs on if you can use the latch & belt at the same time. Usually hard no. Also, rear facing until 2ys is usually law.”
Another offered to “come help with the straps” to keep the babies safe.
What’s bugging most people is the instructions on how to set them up correctly are written on the sides of the car seats. Another user pointed out that Hilton has no excuse as “she has unlimited resources to ensure these are installed properly.”
A user on Reddit wrote, “the fact they are forward facing, the seatbelt strap across the front of the seat?????, the loose harness straps?? This is downright negligence 🥴”
Of course, not everyone came at the “Stars Are Blind” singer full throttle.
Some pointed out that her children were “fine” and “not strapped into a typical car,” while another wrote “She is a first-time mom, people forget people make mistakes. She gets put on blast for everything she does, she loves her children.”
A third accused, “Is this one of those “all press is good press” scenarios? I don’t see how any parent is this clueless. This has to be staged, right ?!?” So, it’s not surprising that many are speculating that the mom of two was pulling one over them.
Well, the video has since been taken down, so we can’t dissect it further🥲.
What we can do is take to Instagram to fangirl over never-seen-before snaps of her babies, which she shares with her entrepreneur husband Carter Reum.
The video compilation is set to her song with Sia, “Fame Won’t Love You”.
It is captioned, “My first Mother’s Day as a mom of two! My heart is so full today 🥹💖. Use #FameWontLoveYou in your Mother’s Day posts so I can see all of your beautiful families 🥰,” the heiress added.
When she spoke to People in October 2023, before her sweet girl came into the picture, she said, “I thought I knew what love was with my husband, but as soon as I met my baby, it’s just this love on another level. He has just changed my life in every way.”
She has kept her journey as a mother highly private.
“Not even my mom, my sisters, my best friend knew until he was over a week old. It was really nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together. I just feel like my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything be just mine,” she shared on her iHeartRadio podcast, This is Paris, in February 2023.
