North West Dazzles at Hollywood Bowl’s A Lion King Concert

North West, the first-born of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is out for our hearts.

The 10-year-old made her singing debut at Ye and Ty Dolla Sign’s “Talking/Once Again,” a track from their upcoming album Vultures, dazzling the crowd in Miami’s Art Basel.

More recently, she rocked the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The talented Miss Westie performed “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” while dressed as the young lion cub Simba during the screening of Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary.

Her parents and siblings (Chicago, Psalm, and Saint), aunt Kourtney Kardashian, uncle Travis Barker, and grandmama Kris Jenner attended the live-to-film concert event on Friday, May 24.

While the young talent received a standing ovation, a few online trolls rained on her parade for snagging the coveted role.

Responding to her uploaded performance, one social media user called her a nepo baby, while another penned “If Kanye and Kim weren’t her parents, the part would have gone to someone who deserved it.”

“Her vocals are fine, but not great. She’s not doing any dance at all and she’s in that weird sweat suit while all the adults are in legitimate costumes. She gave a mediocre performance at what was otherwise a high quality event,” wrote a third.

Others came to the rescue, writing, “This girl has confidence and that’s all that matters. Her voice sounds so cute to me, like a child’s should ❤️❤️ Go Northie.”

The concert also featured performances from Broadway veterans like Billy Eichner, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, and Nathan Lane. Special guest, Jennifer Hudson, offered a powerful rendition of “Circle of Life.”

The screening was backed by composer Hans Zimmer’s pulsating score and featured Oscar-winning soundtracks like “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Hakuna Matata.” Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, and Weaver, who lent their vocal talents to the 2019 box-office hit, were there to perform their iconic songs.

The live event was held to promote Mufasa: The Lion King, scheduled to hit cinemas on December 20. Mufasa: The Lion King is a prequel that more deeply explores Mufasa’s story. It also features Scar, his nemesis.

The upcoming film already has a star-studded cast, with Billy Eichner reprising his role as meerkat Timon, Donald Glover as the protagonist’s fresh-faced son Simba, John Kani as the mandrill Rafiki, and Seth Rogen as the warthog Pumba.

Lane, who voiced Timon in the coming-of-age drama, chatted with Billy Eichner onstage. “I think we can all agree that by the time Disney is done making prequels and sequels, every single person in Los Angeles will have played Timon,” the American actor and comedian quipped.

“I truly believe that before all is said and done, every single person sitting here tonight will be cast to play Timon,” he joked.

But what’s next for North West?

During a Vultures listening party in Phoenix, she revealed that she has been working on Elementary School Dropout, which pays homage to her father’s acclaimed 2004 album The College Dropout. A release date has yet to be announced.
