Meghan Trainor Gears Up For First Tour As A Mom With Kelly Clarkson’s Candid Advice

Meghan Trainor is embarking on her Timeless Tour this fall, marking her first journey since embracing motherhood. During a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Meghan shared her plans to include her sons, Riley and Barry, on the tour alongside husband Daryl Sabara. Kelly, a seasoned mom herself, didn’t shy away from sharing her hard-earned wisdom.

Kelly, mom to River Rose and Remy, cautioned Meghan about the challenges of touring with little ones, emphasizing the struggle for adequate rest. Recalling her own experience with touring alongside her children and even pets, Kelly empathetically advised her fellow singer to prioritize sleep, recommending against rising early with the kids.

“I’m gonna warn you, I tried this. I tried this, and it was fine with the one kid, but when you went out, when you tried with two — and then I had dogs, too — I was like, ‘What do I… who do I think I am?’” Kelly stated.

Meghan, already a mom to her “dog babies,” acknowledged the task ahead, especially with a young Barry in the midst of potty training. She disclosed arrangements for her brother to handle dog-sitting duties while she and Sabara navigate parenthood on tour.

Kelly’s key counsel on that issue is that Meghan shouldn’t feel obligated to wake up with the kids, especially considering her late-night performances. Stressing the importance of self-care and preserving her voice for onstage brilliance, she urged the Dear Future Husband singer to resist the urge to be a “super mom” around the clock.

In her words, “I have one tip for you, and this is because I think a lot of, especially, women have so much guilt on the road — just in general — but especially with your kiddos, you feel like you have to wake up with them. Don’t do that.”

“Have someone. Let him wake up with them. Sleep in as long as you can, ‘cause you don’t go onstage for your vocals until late. It will screw you cause your voice will hate you,” the Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) hitmaker added.

Acknowledging the support she receives from Daryl, Meghan shared plans for leisure activities on the road, prompting Kelly to reiterate the importance of not overextending oneself as a parent. Encouraging Meghan to embrace her career while allowing herself to miss occasional moments, Kelly emphasized the value of balance and self-compassion.
