Meghan Markle’s Netflix Venture: Is It Too “Rich Woman” for Fans?

Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has sparked major buzz. But not everyone’s convinced the Duchess of Sussex is on the right track. The show, set to premiere on January 15, promises viewers a glimpse into Meghan’s lifestyle, with cooking, gardening, and hosting tips. But while fans are excited to see Meghan on screen again, some critics aren’t sold on the concept, warning it could alienate viewers.

PR expert Edward Coram James didn’t mince words in his exclusive comments to The Mirror US. “If Meghan plays the ‘rich woman who’s here to teach you how to live [card],’ it will alienate a lot of viewers,” he said. “People don’t want to hear about gratitude journals and edible flower ice cubes from someone living in a Montecito mansion.” His concern is that Meghan’s privileged lifestyle might overshadow her attempts to connect with everyday viewers.

The show, filmed at a luxurious $6 million estate, has sparked mixed reactions. While the glamorous setting might appeal to her Hollywood circle, Edward cautioned that it could come across as outdated or even out of touch. “By Meghan talking about simple pleasures in a $6 million rented mansion, she’s walking a fine line between being relatable and ridiculous,” he explained.

One notable aspect of the series is Meghan’s solo role as its host. Prince Harry will reportedly make only a brief appearance and experts believe this is a strategic decision. “Harry not being involved in Meghan’s show is the best thing for both of them right now,” Edward explained. “Whether With Love, Meghan is a success or not, I still think it’s a great opportunity for Meghan to show she can succeed independently—without being ‘Harry’s wife.’”

Still, Meghan faces significant challenges. Her previous projects, including Archetypes and the animated series Pearl, failed to resonate with audiences. Meanwhile, her beauty brand, America Riviera Orchard, has yet to launch any products. Edward also pointed out the competitive nature of the lifestyle market, warning that Meghan is stepping into a space already saturated with similar content.

Despite these concerns, With Love, Meghan might still strike a chord among viewers if the Duchess focuses on authenticity. Critics believe that embracing her genuine personality rather than appearing “preachy” could help her redefine her image and carve a niche in the crowded streaming landscape.

As the January premiere approaches, fans and critics are eager to see if Meghan’s new venture will be a hit—or just another misstep in her post-royal career.
