Mark Wahlberg: Onscreen Romance With Halle Berry Is “Every Guy’s Fantasy”
On Tuesday, July 2, actor Mark Wahlberg opened up about sharing an onscreen romance with Halle Berry, describing it as “every guy’s fantasy.”
The two A-listers are the stars of a new Netflix production that’s scheduled to begin streaming in August. Entitled, The Union, Wahlberg’s character finds himself in the middle of secret agents and super spies after his high school love interest recruits him for a classified mission.
He said to Fox News Digital, “…Halle, her and I have known each other for such a long time, and this movie is going to be so great because it’s every guy’s fantasy, to think that they got a shot with Halle Berry.”
The former New Kids on the Block member described the storyline, narrating, “They were childhood sweethearts, and they come back together. He basically waited 25 years for her to come back, walk back through that door and into his life, and it happens, and there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do to prove himself to her if he got a second chance. For me, that was the whole motivation of the character: just do anything he could to not screw it up again.”
Onscreen Romance Was “A Little Weird”
Wahlberg added that romancing a castmate onscreen is always “a little weird.” A happily married man, Wahlberg has been with American model Rhea Durham for 15 years. Though romantic scenes can sometimes get a little intense, the 53-year-old assured fans that his relationship with Durham remains secure.
“I think it’s a little weird anyway when you’re portraying some sort of romance onscreen, it’s not normal, but my wife knows that she is my everything,” he remarked. “She is the most special woman in the world.”
Wahlberg has only been married once. He tied the knot with Durham in 2009. Today, they have four children: Grace, 14, Brendan, 15, Michael, 18, and Ella, 20.
Union Airs on August 16, 2024
Fans of Wahlberg and Berry can catch the famed romance on August 16, 2024, through Netflix. The two reunite after 20 years and go on a high-stakes adventure in Europe.
The film’s director is four-time Emmy nominee Julian Farino. Other movies to his name include Girl/Haji, In Treatment, and Ballers. Aside from Berry and Wahlberg, the action-comedy features Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Mike Colter, Alice Lee, Jessica De Gouw, JK Simmons, and Jackie Earle Haley.
