Lady Gaga Announces New Harlequin Album Days Before the Release of Joker: Folie à Deux
Multiple award-winning musician and artist Lady Gaga has announced a new album titled Harlequin just days before the release of her new film Joker: Folie à Deux with actor Joaquin Phoenix. The album has ties to the film and is expected to hit the shelves in major music stores later this week on Friday. Harlequin will feature 13 songs, written and produced by the 13-time Grammy-winning singer who is currently experimenting with her acting chops.
The singer-actress plays Harley Quinn, the Joker’s love interest in the film.
No wonder, the songs of her new album, which includes titles like That’s Life, Gonna Build A Mountain and Oh, When The Saints have close ties to her character and the story of the film. Insider sources reveal that Gaga had been working on the album while shooting the film. She kept her Joker album a secret and not everyone in her team knew about it. A source close to the singer reveals people were informed only on a “need to know” basis.
Gaga’s Joker album is heavily inspired by legendary musician Prince’s Batman album which was released in 1989. Fans are excited to hear what the 18-time MTV Video Music Awards-winning musician has cooked up for them.
The singer had hinted at the Joker album during the premiere of her Chromatic Tour film. She went on record saying, “I have been working on a lot of different projects that bridge music and acting and all different forms of art.” So the excitement surrounding the Harlequin album is justified.
But the Joker music album is not the only one that Gaga has been working on and according to sources, her seventh studio album is also due for release in the coming days.
Gaga’s latest and sixth album Chromatica released four years ago. She won her second Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for her song “Rain on Me” from the album. Later, her Chromatica Ball music concert tour broke records to witness the highest attendance of any fans in Boston’s Fenway Park. More than 37,000 fans attended the show.
Later that year, Gaga performed in Paris, breaking her own record. The Paris show saw 76,000 fans assemble to hear and watch the singer perform.
Will the Joker album break records and become a viral sensation on social media? Fans can’t wait till Friday to find out.
