Kelly Clarkson Prostrates Herself in Front of Jon Bon Jovi After “Blaze of Glory” Bloopers

After being discovered on American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has gone on to achieve great things but one quality we can always appreciate is how down-to-earth she has remained.

While practicing Jon Bon Jovi’s “Blaze of Glory” on June 6 for The Kelly Clarkson Show, the multi-awarded singer kept making mistakes singing the lyrics. After a series of bloopers, Bon Jovi joined her onstage, prompting her to prostrate herself in front of him as she hilariously sought his forgiveness.

Fortunately, the whole episode was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube so you can watch the whole incident unfold. But before you go clicking on that link, stay on this page so that we can give you behind-the-scene deets.

The 42-year-old kept singing out the wrong lyrics mostly because she struggled to read them from the teleprompter. Recalling the incident, she later joked, “It got so ridiculous, I had to let it go like Elsa for a minute.”

After making the first mistake, the singer paused midsong and could be heard saying, “Oh man. My learning disability kicked in and I said ‘Let the boy like die a man.’ Yup. And it’s definitely not that!”

Like the good sport that she is, she gave it another go. But it appears we all have off days and Clarkson is no exception. She made another funny blunder and stopped singing. After swearing quickly, she screamed into the microphone and began laughing in frustration.

Instead of belting out, “Let me take my final stand,” the Texas-born celebrity sang, “Let me fake my final stand.”

At this point, the original artist himself, Jon Bon Jovi, made a surprise appearance onstage. Joining her on the platform, the embarrassed “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker fell to the floor in a mock apology.

Bon Jovi took the moment in stride and quickly encouraged her. “Come on, girlfriend!,” he said in Clarkson’s ear as he hugged her. He then gave her shoulders a quick shake as a sign of support and reassurance.

Eventually, the TV host nailed the song. You can watch her goosebump-inducing rendition of Bon Jovi’s classic track here.

Discovering Clarkson’s Monster Talent

Born in 1982 as Kelly Brianne Clarkson, the singer became famous when she won American Idol’s first season in 2022. Beating the other contestants in the reality show earned her a record deal with RCA Records.

That same year, she released “A Moment Like This.” It got her into the Billboard Hot 100 and it became the bestselling single in the US. Her other popular songs include “Thankful,” “Miss Independent,” “Because of You,” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes.”

Like many celebrities, Clarkson has struggled with her weight but she has always talked openly about these challenges. She has debunked rumors that she was using weight loss drugs.

“I eat a healthy mix,” she said in an interview. “I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor—a couple [of] years I didn’t. And 90% of the time, I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”
