Kellie Pickler’s Legal Battle Over Late Husband’s Estate Heats Up

Kellie Pickler’s Legal Battle Over Late Husband’s Estate Heats Up

The late Kyle Jacobs’ death in February 2023 left behind a legal and emotional storm. Nearly two years after his passing, Jacobs’ widow, country star Kellie Pickler, is locked in a court battle with his parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs, over his personal property. The drama is unfolding in a high-stakes fight, with certain assets at the center of the dispute.

According to legal documents, Kellie is accusing Kyle’s parents, who are co-administrators of his estate, of overstepping their bounds and making demands for items that she either doesn’t have or disputes ownership of. The saga began when Kellie’s team filed a petition detailing the tensions surrounding Kyle’s personal property, which reportedly includes a range of sentimental and valuable items.

The American Idol alum’s legal team presented a “List of Assets” in which they allege that Reed and Sharon Jacobs issued a subpoena to Kellie. They reportedly demanded the return of items like Kyle’s prized gun collection, his Rolex and Garmin watches, and a 1957 J45 Gibson guitar. Additionally, a Steinway Grand Model M piano, a viola, and even baseball card albums are on the list. Kellie’s team also revealed that Kyle’s parents have requested Kyle’s work laptop, iPhone, and hard drives—items that Kellie has yet to hand over.

Kellie also claims that Kyle’s parents entered her home without her consent after his death and took several items without notifying her of what they had taken. As a result, Kellie is demanding that her in-laws provide a full list of items they allegedly retrieved, including the details of when and how they took possession of the items.

For their part, Reed and Sharon Jacobs have denied any wrongdoing, with Reed admitting to entering Kellie’s home—but only at Kellie’s “express invitation” and with her legal team present. They also claimed they didn’t need to provide a list of items because Kellie had already handed them over.

In their response, Kyle’s parents accused Kellie of withholding property and providing conflicting information about the whereabouts of the disputed items. They’ve also requested that Kellie’s petition be dismissed, claiming that she is violating a subpoena for the return of estate property.

Kyle and Kellie were married in 2011. However, following his suicide, Kellie has faced not only the grief of losing her husband but also the legal and emotional battle over his estate. The cause of Kyle Jacobs’ death was officially ruled as an “intraoral shotgun wound,” as determined by the Davidson County Medical Examiner.
