Kanye West’s Dilapidated Property Forces Him To Sell at a $4M Loss
Kanye West is known for having one of the most impressive real estate portfolios. Lately, however, something appears to be amiss as the rapper listed his Malibu estate for a staggering $4 million loss. According to speculations, his once-booming property empire is declining.
The producer, rapper, and designer placed his beachfront home—designed by well-known contemporary minimalist Tadao Ando—on the market for just $53 million two years after he bought it.
Recall that Kanye had already started overhauling the residence but still needed to complete several much-needed and planned renovations. The last images from the Wall Street Journal now show the house without doors, windows, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and interior finishes.
Assessed by Selling Sunset’s Jason Oppenheim, he said, “It will take several million dollars for the house to be finished. Much of the architectural integrity and the architectural value of the house exists.”
Additionally, Kanye is selling his Malibu estate and his Wyoming ranch, both of which appear to be abandoned. Kanye’s Hidden Hills estate is also in a state of disrepair.
During his prime, Kanye’s goal was to be one of the biggest real estate developers of all time, but his supposed successful legacy is now crumbling. Gone are the bizarre, futuristic domes, weird structures, and Star Wars-inspired designs.
Recall that four years ago, Kanye invested in sprawling ranches in Wyoming and California. The marital home he used to share with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian was the envy of Los Angeles
But Kanye became the center of controversies. When he started spiraling out of control with his vile antisemitic outbursts and outlandish antics, his billion-dollar career, including his real estate portfolio, began to shoot downwards.
Kanye also received massive criticism for his behavior in Italy while he was touring the Venice Canal with partner Bianca Censori. During the boat ride, the two looked like they were engaging in overtly sexual behavior while Bianca wore revealing skintight clothes.
Additionally, his world-conquering status as a music mogul and fashion icon slowly disappeared and many labels have dropped him.
In March 2023, Kanye bought a piece of land in LA with the intention of relocating his Donda Academy there. He purchased the $1.5 million estate from Cornerstone Christian Church in the Northridge neighborhood. This aspiration was quickly dashed to pieces because the local community needed to approve his plans so the property was left deserted.
Upon a closer look, the building has shopping carts and even broken furniture strewn across its lawns. The status of the interior, meanwhile, remains a mystery since the place has been boarded up.
During his better days, Kanye was known for his dedication, turning dreams like his Calabasas ranch into reality. He purchased the property for $3 million in 2019 and his futuristic plans had architects scratching their heads.
After his divorce from Kim, he purchased a modest 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom property for $4.5 million—a whopping $421,000 over the seller’s asking price. Today, this place is also abandoned despite the massive amount of work it still needs.
