Jennifer Lopez Talks About Her Blonde Transformation For “Kiss Of The Spider Woman,” Says She Was Initially “Worried”

Jennifer Lopez knows how to reinvent herself and this time, she did it in platinum. The actress opened up about her transformation for Kiss of the Spider Woman during an interview on The Howard Stern Show on October 15. The 56-year-old actress and singer stars as Ingrid Luna in the upcoming film adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical, a story about two prisoners who escape their grim reality by imagining the glamorous world of a fictional movie star.

As Howard, 71, praised her performance, he also admitted he couldn’t get over her look. “I like you as a platinum blonde. I know you were thinking I don’t want to be [blonde] in the movie,” he told her.

Jennifer admitted that she wasn’t sure about the drastic change at first. “It was so different. I was just worried because I’d never had platinum blonde hair,” she said.

She explained that she’d experimented with blonde wigs before, but they never looked quite right. “…It always looked so terrible on [my] skin tone,” she confessed, adding,  “I thought this would be bad.”

But this time, everything clicked with a little help from her glam team. “But it was a whole transformation. The skin needed to be transformed. I had to put more pink in my foundation,” she shared.

While the hair does not match the lipsticks she usually wears, her longtime makeup artist Scott Barnes stepped in with confidence. “I know how to do it. We’re going to make it beautiful,” he told her. And he did.

“Everything changed. I turned into a different person. My hands moved differently. My body was different. Colors that I wore. Everything changed,” Jennifer recalled.

The transformation may have been for the role, but the energy clearly stuck with her. Though she didn’t keep the platinum locks after filming, Jennifer has continued to channel Ingrid Luna’s Hollywood glamour in real life especially during her recent press tour.

On October 6, she stunned in an avant-garde Harris Reed Demi-Couture gown that seemed to wink at her movie’s title. The black-and-white look featured a spider-like corset, a deep portrait neckline, and an open back that stole the show. Later that day, she switched into a sleek pencil dress with furry cuffs and nude stilettos for Live with Kelly and Mark.

Her talk show marathon continued with a perfectly styled appearance on the Today show, where she paired a tan leather blazer and white shirt with gray trousers and warm-toned accessories. The day before, she was seen outside The View studios wearing a cozy black and white look with a braided, ribboned cardigan, proving she can pull off casual elegance just as easily as red carpet drama.

And because it’s Jennifer, she did not stop there. That same week, she leaned into bold ‘80s-inspired looks, including a light blue high-neck top tucked into a turquoise pencil skirt with a red clutch and wide-brim hat, followed by a mustard yellow co-ord with a plunging blazer and flared skirt.
