Jamie Foxx Opens Up After Beverly Hills Birthday Altercation: “Too Blessed to Be Stressed”
Jamie Foxx’s latest birthday weekend drama has left fans talking but he’s not letting it get him down. The 57-year-old actor took to Instagram on Sunday, December 15, to share a powerful message following an altercation at a Beverly Hills restaurant the night before.
Foxx, who was out celebrating his birthday with family, posted a black-and-white photo on his grid with a bold message: “The devil is busy…but I’m too blessed to be stressed.” The post featured the caption, “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright…”
Foxx seems determined to keep his head high despite the drama. He also took the opportunity to thank those who have supported his Netflix special What Had Happened Was, which has been a huge hit. “Huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by What Had Happened Was … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul….”
But what exactly went down during the birthday bash that caused all the fuss? According to Foxx’s spokesperson, the actor was enjoying dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills on Saturday, December 14, when a person from another table allegedly threw a glass at him—hitting him in the mouth. Foxx had to get stitches but is reportedly recovering well. The police were called to the scene, and the matter is now in the hands of law enforcement.
Sources confirmed that Foxx was with his two daughters, Analise and Corinne, as well as his ex, Kristin Grannis, when the incident occurred. TMZ reported the altercation happened around 10 pm at the upscale restaurant.
The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) quickly got involved. Although a call was made regarding the “fight” at the restaurant, their investigation revealed that the situation wasn’t as serious as initially thought.
BHPD issued a statement saying, “Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded. Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties.” They added, “The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.”
Although the incident was a bit of a shocker, it’s just the latest in a series of health issues Foxx has had to overcome. Earlier this year, in April 2023, Foxx was hospitalized due to what his daughter Corinne described as a “medical complication.” It was later revealed that Foxx had suffered a brain bleed and a stroke, which left him unable to walk for a time. He also reported experiencing 20 days of missing memory. But as Foxx himself has said, he’s built for this kind of challenge—and he’s determined to rise above it.
