Is Adam Sandler Sexiest Man Alive? “About Freaking Time,” Says the Comedian
Known for his hilarious vignettes, Adam Sandler treated the audience of the People’s Choice Awards last February 18 to a few chuckles after receiving an award from his long-time friend and co-star Jennifer Aniston.
The 57-year-old actor had everyone in Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar in stitches after Jennifer presented him with the People’s Icon Award. However, the natural joker thought that he was being presented with People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.
The Uncut Gems actor who attended the red-carpet event with Jackie Sandler, his wife, comically mentioned that “it was about freaking time” that he was recognized for his attractiveness.
At the start of his hilarious speech, he shared that his agent called to inform him that he would be honored with the People’s Icon Award. He instead heard that it was for People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Adam confessed that he had prepared an acceptance speech for the Sexiest Man Alive award. Even after learning about his mistake, the actor went ahead and read the speech he originally wrote even if it was for the wrong award.
Throughout his comic display, Jennifer stood by his side wearing her signature little black dress with an off-the-shoulder cut.
The Friends alum described Adam as a very good friend and her brother from another mother. She also commended him for being an “extraordinary father, husband, and one of the most loyal friends you could ever, ever have.”
She mentioned some of Adam’s movie projects, noting that she shared the spotlight in a few of his biggest films.
Recall that Jenn and Adam first worked together in Just Go With It, a 2011 romantic comedy where Adam played a plastic surgeon who pretends to be stuck in an unhappy marriage just to hit on women. He then asked his good friend (Jenn) to pretend to be his wife.
The two reunited in 2019 for Murder Mystery, a Netflix comedy that was followed by a sequel last year.
While on stage, Adam took the time to explain his snafu and shared with the audience that he was sticking to his original plan. He said, “So anyway, I wrote a speech for that, and I don’t have one prepared for the icon thing, but I’m going to do the speech that I wrote.”
He started, “My name is Adam Sandler and I am the sexiest man alive, can I get a hell yeah?” This elicited cheers of delight from the audience. Continuing, he said, “To the People Magazine’s academy members of hotness and sexual attractiveness I would like to say thank you for recognizing me as the man who made our entire country the horniest this year and was by far the most-talked-about person in the bedroom by couples or throuples during fantasy role plays and sloppy time.”
He joked, “Can I get another hell yeah?” He proceeded with, “I am trying to be gracious, People Magazine, but I have to admit three words keep popping into my head right now: “It’s about freaking time!” he shouted. “For decades, Adam Sandler has been waiting patiently on the sexy bench.”
He concluded his speech by saying, “To the People Magazine’s Academy of Hotness and Sexual Attractiveness, I would like to say thank you for recognizing me as the man who made our entire country the horniest this year!”
