Halle Bailey Opens Up About Her Post-Baby Body And Learning To Love Herself Again

Halle Bailey recently opened up about feeling insecure after giving birth to her son Halo in January. In a heartfelt video she originally posted on Snapchat, the 25-year-old singer and actress talked about how her body has changed and how she’s learning to accept herself all over again.

“Right now, I’m a little bit thicker than I usually am and I feel really insecure about it, a little bit” the Little Mermaid star shared.

“Because all my life, I’ve been like 120 lbs, really skinny. And then I had my baby and then when I was breastfeeding, I lost a bunch of weight,” she continued.

At first, she thought her body had snapped back. But reality hit when she noticed the weight wasn’t coming off like it used to. “And now that I’m 25, I just feel myself like, ‘Oh. Weight is sticking more.’ Like, ok,” she shared.

Halle admitted that her busy schedule — juggling filming and motherhood — has made it nearly impossible to keep up with working out. “This is my first time I’m taking a break. I was filming every day and being a mom to Halo every day. I didn’t have time anywhere between being on set and being with Halo to workout. So I’m a little fluffy right now because I kind of fell off of my consistent workouts,” she explained.

But what really made her pause was a video she posted with her sister, Chlöe Bailey. After uploading it, Halle started reading the comments, and the internet’s opinions hit her hard. According to her, she got so insecure about comments about her body that she asked Chloe to take the video down.

Still, Halle isn’t letting the moment define her. In her words: “But then today, I’m like, ‘I’m going to feel better about myself. I’m not going to be too hard on myself, because I’ve been working a real cool f——— job that I just finished.”

Her message for herself — and for all of us? “just enjoy the moment and not be too hard on yourself and let yourself live a little and have some [fun].”
