Eminem’s Daughter Hailie Says Being A Mom Made Her Understand Her Dad’s Journey
Hailie Jade McClintock may have grown up as the daughter of one of the world’s most famous rappers, but with a baby in her arms, she is now stepping into a deeper understanding of what it means to be both seen and private.
In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, the 29-year-old new mom opened up about how motherhood has made her relate to her dad, Eminem, more than ever before. “Having been in the spotlight for so long, I’ve learned the importance of balancing what I share publicly with what I keep private,” she said.
Hailie and her husband Evan McClintock welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Elliot, in March 2025. And though she’s just three months into this new chapter, Hailie is already laser-focused on how to protect her little one while still enjoying and sharing some of life’s brightest moments.
“I feel the same way now,” she said, reflecting on how her dad handled parenting in public. “I want to share the proud, joyful moments that mean a lot to me, especially as a parent, but I’m also intentional about keeping certain parts of our lives just for us.”
Her recent digital series Just a Little Reno, which she filmed while pregnant, gives fans a peek into her creative side, but when it comes to baby Elliot, Hailie is keeping it selective.
“It’s all about finding that balance between openness and privacy,” she explained. “And that balance has become even more important to me as I navigate parenthood.”
That balance is something her dad, born Marshall Mathers, has long spoken about. “Bein’ a dad is definitely living a double life,” Eminem once said in a 2004 interview with Rolling Stone. At home, he was simply “Dad,” picking up his kids from school, helping with homework, and teaching them life lessons.
Though he’s famously private, Eminem has poured his love for Hailie into his music, with heartfelt tracks like Temporary and Hailie’s Song. Back in 2001, he told Q magazine that Hailie was his “wake-up call,” the reason he pushed harder in life and focused on building a future.
That love and pride have clearly gone both ways. In 2022, Hailie celebrated her dad’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And just last month, Eminem gave Hailie and Evan a sweet shoutout from the stage at Jelly Roll’s concert in Detroit, acknowledging the first anniversary of her marriage to Evan McClintock. Right after performing Lose Yourself, the rapper looked into the crowd and said, “Hailie and Evan, happy anniversary, I love y’all.”
