Drake’s Security Guard Shot Outside the Rapper’s Toronto Home

A security guard working at Drake’s mansion in Toronto, Canada has been shot.

Police arrived at the rapper’s Bridle Path home around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Drake’s employee was found outside the gate of 21 Park Lane Circle. According to Inspector Paul Krawczyk from Toronto’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force, the victim was in critical condition.

The 48-year-old was taken to the hospital where he is recovering from life-threatening injuries.

Authorities did not confirm whether Drake was at home at the time of the shooting or whether he was the target. “We are in contact with [Drake’s] team and they are cooperating,” Krawczyk told reporters on the morning of the incident.

In recent weeks, the Canadian rapper has been embroiled in a lyrical battle with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, also known as K. Dot. Both artists have been dropping diss tracks that attack the other’s personal and professional life.

Their beef intensified over the weekend when Drake dropped the 7:37-minute-long “Family Matters.” Its lyrics reference Lamar’s infidelity rumors, his relationship with his finance, and claims he doesn’t stand for black empowerment. It features a chorus from his previous track “Push Ups” which poked fun at Lamar’s height: “How the f–k you big steppin’ with a size 7 men’s on?”

The Pulitzer Prize winner responded with “Meet The Grahams,” where he annihilates Drake by offering to mentor Adonis, Drake’s 6 year-old-son. Lamar also accused the artist of harboring a secret daughter: “Dear baby girl, I’m sorry that your father not active inside your world/He don’t commit to much, but his music, yeah, that’s for sure.”

Lamar followed it with the explosive “Not Like Us.” During the track, Lamar adds fuel to the fire by alleging that Drake is a pedophile. The lyrics go, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young / You better not ever go to cell block one / To any b**ch that talk to him and they in love / Just make sure you hide your lil’ sister from him.”

Oh, and did we mention it featured an aerial view of his Toronto house as cover art?

The 37-year-old responded by releasing ‘The Heart Part 6,” which many are calling an embarrassing diss track. Drake refutes Lamar’s allegations that he is a snitch and it sounds like he’s calling it quits.

The point is, things took a dark turn. Naturally, people suspect that the feud may have something to do with the shooting.

When they posed the hypothesis to Krawczyk, he said they’re aware of the lyrical feud but it’s too early to determine a motive. He added that investigators have recovered a video of the incident which is being reviewed.

The details and description of the suspected shooter or the vehicle are not yet available. Authorities will not be releasing them to the public as they’re “dealing with video quality issues.”

Olivia Chow, the Mayor of Toronto, has been briefed about the incident. She said, “Any shooting is not welcome in this city and I hope the police will find the people that are violating the law and catch them.”
