Demi Moore’s Oscar Heartbreak: A “Huge Disappointment”

Hollywood’s biggest night was bittersweet for Demi Moore, who was left heartbroken after losing the Best Actress Oscar to rising star Mikey Madison. According to an exclusive source speaking to Page Six, the Substance actress “can’t help but feel heartbroken” after her dreams of finally taking home an Academy Award were shattered.

The 62-year-old performer had high hopes for Oscar night, especially after her Golden Globe win in the same category. “Demi is taking this loss very hard because she felt like this was finally her chance to take home an Academy Award,” the insider spilled.

While she remained gracious in defeat, the source revealed that Moore was deeply disappointed. “She was really hopeful that she had secured this win,” the source added. “But of course, it was a huge disappointment not hearing her name be called.”

Hollywood Rallies Around Demi

Despite the loss, Moore was showered with love at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where some of Hollywood’s biggest names came up to express their support. “A ton of people came up to Demi at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party to show their love and support for her work,” the source dished. Clearly, even though she didn’t take home the trophy, Moore’s performance left a lasting impact.

The competition was fierce this year, with Moore going head-to-head against Anora’s Mikey Madison, I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres, Emilia Pérez’s Karla Sofía Gascón, and Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo.

A video making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter) showed Moore tensing her jaw as Madison’s name was announced.

Mikey Madison’s Big Night

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Madison was understandably emotional as she went onstage to accept her first Oscar. “This is very surreal. I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here, standing in this room today, is really incredible,” she told the star-studded audience.

The Scream actress also made sure to acknowledge her fellow nominees. “I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you.”

She ended her speech on a dazed but ecstatic note: “This is a dream come true. I’m probably going to wake up tomorrow.”

Demi’s Oscar Future—What’s Next?

While this year’s loss stings, there’s no doubt Moore will be back in the running. With a career as legendary as hers and a performance as gripping as Substance, Hollywood knows it’s only a matter of time before she gets her moment on stage.
