Coachella 2024 Headliners: Doja Cat, Tyler the Creator, Lana Del Rey, and a No Doubt Reunion
No doubt, fans of the rock band No Doubt went into a frenzy after the official announcement that they will be headlining this year’s Coachella. Gwen Stefani and her bandmates will be back bigger than ever on one of music’s biggest stages.
Gwen, who has become successful in her solo career, announced the gig on her Instagram account with 17.5 million followers. She excitedly shared the festival line-up in her Stories. Aside from their band, other acts headlining the music extravaganza in California’s Coachella Valley this April are Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat.
Thousands of festival-goers are incredibly excited about the three-day and two-night affair because they will get to see and experience No Doubt’s music again. Their hit songs include Just a Girl, Hey Baby, Underneath it All, and Sunday Morning.
Gwen, Tom Dumont, the guitarist, Tony Kanal, the bassist, and Adrian Young, the drummer, all shared a Zoom video call to announce their upcoming reunion.
Recall that it was 2015 when the band last played together before they went their separate ways.
The band was formed in Anaheim, California, back in 1986. Founding members included Gwen’s brother Eric Stefani as the keyboard player and the late John Spence as the original lead vocalist.
Initially, Gwen only provided background vocals. In 1987, she became the band’s frontwoman. Alan Meade, who had replaced Spence upon his passing, had left the band.
Tony Kanal replaced the original bassist, Chris Leal, early on. In 1988, Tom Dumont replaced Jerry McMahon as lead guitarist. Adrian Young replaced Chris Webb on drums. Eric left the group in 1994.
No Doubt released their eponymous debut album in 1992. In 1995, they released their third studio album, Tragic Kingdom. The lead single, Just A Girl, catapulted them to stardom and mainstream success. Millions of people were singing their songs, and they were constantly being invited to perform nationwide.
Five albums and two Grammy wins later, No Doubt shocked their fans when they went on hiatus in 2004. Gwen pursued a solo career and she released her debut, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. It was a good move for her because its success led to her superstardom.
Gwen went forward with her solo career and released three more albums, the latest being a holiday mix called You Make It Feel Like Christmas. In the last 20 years, Gwen has sold over 60 million records globally. She has also won three Grammys after being nominated 18 times by the prestigious awarding body.
Gwen has also been successful in the fashion industry. She recently entered into beauty products with her makeup line GXVE Beauty, which is being sold in Sephora.
In 2012, 8 years after their first break, Gwen reunited with her bandmates Tom, Adrian, and Tony and released their studio album Push and Stove, their sixth as a group. Coachella 2024 will be their second reunion gig and their first time to play together in over a decade.
