Cara Delevingne’s Parents Share the Cause of the Fire at the Model’s $7M LA Mansion
Last Friday, supermodel Cara Delevingne’s $7 million LA mansion burned down. Her parents have since stepped forward and named the cause of the fire.
According to her mother, Pandora Delevingne, and father, Charles Delevingne, the huge blaze that took around 100 firefighters to subdue was caused by an electrical issue in the house.
After the fire that consumed her home, 31-year-old Cara was seen leaving the Kit Kat Club at London’s Playhouse Theater with her parents. The media approached them before they entered the club. When asked about the cause of the fire, Charles gave the curt answer, “Electrical.” He later elaborated that “something fell on the power line” amid the windy weather in Studio City where the mansion was located.
Pandora added that their daughter was devastated by the incident. She explained, “She had everything in her house, her whole life. She built it, she made it. She has everything in it.”
Cara shared the unfortunate news on her Instagram account on March 15, the day her house was razed. Although her post has since been deleted, screenshots show Cara’s statement which read, “My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have.”
She also shared that her two beloved cats might have perished in the fire since they were missing. Fortunately, they were later found in good health. The model shared the good news by briefly posting, “They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters.”
According to reports, Cara’s cats and a house sitter were inside her house when the fire broke and spread. The house sitter was later treated for smoke inhalation but was otherwise uninjured.
After sharing the good news about her cats, Cara created another post. This time, it was solely dedicated to the firefighters who were at the scene. She penned, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the firefighters and people that showed up to help…”
Cara wasn’t near her property when the fire occurred. She was in London for her theatrical debut, performing in the musical Cabaret. According to TMZ, a 911 call was made at around 3:57 AM PST to report the fire, prompting the LA Fire Department (LAFD) to rush to the scene.
Upon their arrival, fire crews found the back of the home engulfed in heavy flames as they spread toward the attic. Despite their timely response, the roof collapsed and the fire became difficult to control. The LAFD’s report reads, “Crews confirmed all occupants were out of the home, and then pulled back into defensive mode due to the long duration of heavy fire exposing the structural members.”
An unnamed neighbor described how quickly it spiraled out of control by saying, “At first it seemed like a small-ish fire. But very quickly, maybe 15 to 20 minutes, the flames were probably 20 feet high, 30 feet high. It was massive.”
Ninety-four firefighters responded, arriving in 13 different fire engine vehicles. One firefighter was injured and reportedly fell from a ladder as he attempted to put out the blaze.
