Brandi Cyrus Reveals She Doesn’t Want Kids

Brandi Cyrus is not here for the baby fever, and she’s got zero apologies about it. The 38-year-old opened up on Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey on July 15, where she joined her mom, Tish Cyrus, and the show’s host, Harry Jowsey, for an honest chat about love, relationships, and why some people simply don’t want to be parents.
While Harry, 28, shared that he’s ready to settle down and even bought a “family car” with screens in the back just in case he ends up driving kids around, Brandi quickly made it clear that those screens wouldn’t be playing cartoons for her own kids anytime soon.
“Yeah. I don’t want my own kids,” Brandi said flat out, prompting a chuckle from both Harry and Tish. And when Harry asked her why, Brandi didn’t hesitate: “Oh, I don’t really like kids.”
The conversation took a thoughtful turn when Harry mentioned another podcast guest, Vanessa, who, along with her husband, had decided to live a child-free life by choice. “…I thought it was interesting because I’m like, Oh, I didn’t know that was an option,” Harry admitted, seemingly amazed by the clarity some people have about their lives.
Even though she’s not interested in raising kids herself, Brandi revealed she’s open to dating someone who already has children. So it’s not about avoiding family life altogether but about knowing her lane and sticking to it.
Her mom, Tish, 58, didn’t push back. Instead, the whole vibe between the three was light, honest, and refreshingly supportive.
Brandi is currently in a relationship with Matt Southcombe, and her family dynamic is anything but simple. She’s part of a large blended family that includes half-siblings Miley and Noah Cyrus, Braison Cyrus, and Trace and Christopher Cody from previous relationships. Tish recently remarried Prison Break star Dominic Purcell in 2023 after her divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus in 2022.
Despite growing up in a famously musical, famously complicated family, Brandi has carved out her own path and she’s not afraid to take a different route, even if it doesn’t involve a minivan full of kids.
