Brad Pitt’s Daughter Drops Dad’s Last Name Due To “Painful Events”

Suri Noelle has started a trend. After Tom Cruise and Katie Holme’s daughter decided to drop Tom’s last name, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s 18-year-old daughter made a similar choice.

Formerly Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, their daughter’s name has begun proceedings to change it to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. Shiloh filed legal documentation to drop the “Pitt” surname as she celebrated her 18th birthday last May 27.

Her lawyer, Peter Levine, informed Page Six that Shiloh’s decision was made because of “painful events.”

He also corrected announcements from the media that the teenager published her name change through newspaper ads. “Shiloh Jolie did not take out an ‘ad’ announcing any name change and any press reporting that is inaccurate,” Levine pointed out.

He explained, “As Shiloh’s attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. That legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times as is required.”

Brad’s Reaction

Brad Pitt is understandably troubled by his daughter’s latest move. A source told People, “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.”

The source added, “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

Another insider shared with US Weekly, “Brad was devastated by this choice. To him, it was more than a change of name—it was a symbol of a deeper estrangement that has been brewing for years.”

Other Kids Drop “Pitt” Surname

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six kids. In addition to Shiloh, they have 19-year-old Zahara, 22-year-old Maddox, 20-year-old Pax, and twins Knox and Vivienne who are 16 years old.

Although they’ve yet to file legal paperwork, Zahara, Maddox, and Vivienne have reportedly also begun using their names without Brad’s last name.

Maddox allegedly drops “Pitt” from documents that aren’t legal. Meanwhile, Zahara didn’t use the name when she was inducted into her sorority last November. Finally, Vivienne’s name was printed as “Vivienne Jolie” on the playbill of The Outsiders, a production she worked on with her mother.

Brad and Angelina ended their union in 2016 after a 10-year marriage. Various insiders have shared that their kids have a closer relationship with Angelina than Brad even while they were wed.
