Ashlee Simpson Gushes About Co-Parenting With Ex Pete Wentz

Far too many couples end up resenting each other after divorce, particularly if there are custody and co-parenting issues that must be ironed out. Happily, this isn’t the case for Ashlee Simpson who enjoys co-parenting with her ex-husband, comedian Pete Wentz.

According to the 39-year-old singer, she got lucky and won the co-parenting lottery with her previous partner. The “Autobiography” hitmaker recently opened up in Broad Ideas, Rachel Bilson’s podcast. During their conversation, Ashlee talked about what it’s like raising her eldest son, Bronx Mowgli, whom she shares with Pete. Ashlee and Pete got married in 2008 and their marriage lasted until 2011. Their son, Bronx is now 15 years old.

Since the two divorced, Pete went on and welcomed two more children with his long-time girlfriend Meagan Camper while Ashlee also had two more children—a daughter and a son with her husband Evan Ross.

So far, Ashlee is 100% happy at how their blended families have been working out, particularly in terms of raising Bronx with Pete and his girlfriend. The singer shared with Rachel, “Co-parenting has for me been amazing. Pete’s a great guy and Meagan’s amazing and they also have two kids and I feel like I really…”

Co-host Olivia Allen finished her sentence by guessing, “…won the co-parenting lottery?”

“Exactly! That’s what I was just about to say. Won the co-parenting lottery,” Ashlee said. She then continued, “They’re amazing and I feel like we’re always on the same page and if we’re not, we get to the same page.”

Ashlee also described her current husband as the “best bonus dad” and the “cool guy over there.”

The television personality admitted that her husband has a very good relationship with all her children. She described how Evan is integral in Bronx’s life, “I feel like also we started when Bronx was two and a half so he didn’t know different. And Evan and I were together by the time he was like four, four and a half, so he doesn’t know anything but Pete and Megan… and me and Evan.”

According to Ashlee, one of their winning formulas is to simply follow Bronx’s lead when it comes to spending time with her and his dad. The ex-couple used to spend a few days of each week with their son but Bronx decided to change that set-up.

Ashlee shared, “We’ve also gone on like his flow. We used to have that three, four things, you know the days that you have your kids? And I think maybe he was like 10, he was like, “No I want to do one week, one week.”

Bronx added, “I want to have my full week here, and I want to have my full week there, and we kind of flow with that and it’s been like that for so long and that’s what works and we’re so easy with each other, we’re like, ‘You want to go on tour?’ It’s been a real flow and natural good thing.”

Ashlee is happy with their current set up where Evan and Pete are friendly while she and Meagan are on good terms.
