TikTok Executive Govind Sandhu Diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, Shares His Treatment Journey

“This wasn’t exactly part of my five-year plan.”

TikTok Australia’s Global Music Partnerships Head Govind Sandhu recently shared devastating news on his TikTok and Instagram accounts about his health and how it came as a shock to him considering his healthy lifestyle.

The 38-year-old executive who runs marathons and does Crossfit was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer where malignant cells form in the lymph system. The lymph system is part of the immune system responsible for combating infections. Stage 4 means it has spread in at least one organ outside the lymph system.

According to Sandhu, he got the news after completing the Sydney Half Marathon last May. He shares, “I thought I was in the best shape of my life, the healthiest I’ve ever been. A Crossfitter who runs ultra-marathons and marathons lives and breathes training, optimizes sleep and recovery, supplements, nutrition.”

Words of encouragement and support have been flowing in from his followers across the globe.

“I have non hodgkin’s lymphoma, stay strong, take a day at a time. That’s what I do. God bless 🙏” says Babara Trister.

Mcsnoopydoop comments, “I have just recovered from stage 3 lung cancer. I was fit too. My fitness helped during my treatment. Fight the good fight brother.”

Another commenter Carla Brandi Smiley shares her own cancer fight as well, “You are in my deepest prayers. If I may be of inspiration. I was diagnosed at age 26 with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. That was in 2006. It is my prayer that you beat this! You are an inspiration!”

Because many of his followers asked about the early signs he felt that made him see a doctor, Sandhu revealed he didn’t have any official symptoms until he finished his Sydney Half Marathon. He shared that his trail runs training felt a bit harder, and that a day after the marathon he had flu-like symptoms, with shoulder and neck aches running down to his back, and had wild sweats at night.

He advised his followers to have their blood work done every six months and to get ultrasound tests in order to know if something’s off with their bodies.

Sandhu documents his treatment journey and is now on chemotherapy cycle 2. He commended the Australian healthcare system on his recent TikTok reel and shared that he didn’t expect the treatment facility at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney to be actually peaceful and calming, adding “We got this.”

Sandhu continues to stay positive and shares that this is a step in his road to recovery. This is one marathon we’re rooting for him to win.
