Miss Florida Teen USA Contestant Dies in Tragic Vehicular Accident

A tragic accident has taken the life of 18-year-old Kadance Fredericksen, a rising star in the Miss Florida Teen USA circuit. The young beauty queen lost her life in a head-on collision on February 17, just three minutes away from her home in Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kadance’s car mysteriously crossed the center line and crashed into a tractor-trailer. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her mother, Lisa Fredericksen, is still searching for answers.
“I have no idea what happened,” Lisa shared. “She was literally three minutes from home.”
Investigators are looking into the accident.
A Bright Future Cut Short
Kadance’s journey was nothing short of inspiring. After overcoming a difficult early childhood, she was formally adopted by Lisa in 2017. Pageantry wasn’t always part of her life, but her spontaneous decision to enter a competition changed everything.
“She came home one day and she said, ‘Mama, can I do a beauty pageant?’” Lisa recalled. “She bought the ugliest dress she could find because she just wanted to be like a princess. She didn’t win a thing, but she was hooked.”
Beyond the crown, Kadance was known for her generous heart. She completed thousands of hours of volunteer work with the Ronald McDonald House and raised over $25,000 for the charity. She also founded Kada’s Promise, an organization dedicated to donating teddy bears and blankets to children in foster care, abuse shelters, and hospitals.
Remembering Kadance
The Miss Florida and Teen Florida USA community shared a heartfelt tribute: “Our pageant community has lost a beautiful soul—one who was a true light in this world. She was ambitious, driven, kind, and a leader among her pageant sisters. May we honor her memory by carrying forward the light she so effortlessly shared with the world and our Florida pageant community.”
Kadance had already been accepted to nine colleges and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. A day before the accident, she secured a prestigious scholarship to Mississippi State University.
As the Fredericksen family prepares to say goodbye, they are asking mourners to bring teddy bears to her funeral in honor of Kada’s Promise. Donations can also be made through the charity’s website or a GoFundMe page set up in her memory.
“We want the whole world to know who Kadance is,” Lisa said. “We want to continue touching as many lives as we can, even though she’s not here.”
