Christy Carlson Romano Nearly Loses an Eye in Accidental Shooting Incident

Christy Carlson Romano, the actress who played Ren Stevens in Even Stevens and the voice of Kim Possible, suffered a bruised eye after a terrifying accident. The former Disney Channel star took to Instagram to reveal that she was shot in the face while out shooting clay pigeons in Texas with her husband Brendan Rooney.

In a video posted on February 8, Romano detailed the moment when another group at the range fired in the wrong direction, hitting her directly in the face.

“So I got shot in the eye, it was not fun,” she said in the video, trying to keep a lighthearted tone. “I am safe.”

Fragments Remain Lodged in Her Face

Romano showed off her injuries, including a gash beneath her eye and multiple bruises. She mentioned that some of the bullet fragments are still inside her face and are too risky to remove.

“It’s still inside,” she said. “This is really bad tonight. Everything’s kind of clearing out, but I got to say I got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale.”

Despite the trauma, the actress seemed determined to stay positive, emphasizing how grateful she is to be alive. She took a moment to thank first responders, calling them “the most amazing, superhero people.”

A Close Call

Romano later revealed that she was hit in five different places, with one fragment landing less than an inch from her right eye. The accident could have been much worse, and she isn’t taking that lightly.

“With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”

Husband Calls Romano a “Badass”

Romano’s husband, Brendan Rooney, was quick to show his love and admiration for his wife after the incident.

“You are the bravest, toughest, most stoicism and badass woman I have ever met,” he commented under her post. “I am so thankful you are alive. I am so thankful you are the mother to our children. I wouldn’t know what to do without you. I love you more than life itself.”

Romano is focusing on her recovery and on spending time with her loved ones. While she seems to be in good spirits, this incident is a stark reminder of how life can change in an instant.
