Lamar Odom Claims Drugs Were “Slipped” Into His Drink Before 2015 Overdose

In a shocking revelation, Lamar Odom has opened up about the terrifying night that nearly ended his life in 2015. The former NBA star, who is the ex-husband of Khloé Kardashian, shared new details about his near-fatal overdose during an emotional interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on January 20.

Now 45, Odom reflected on his battle with addiction, his miraculous recovery, and the disturbing events leading up to his hospitalization. “I do remember, but I don’t really remember because I was in a coma,” he admitted.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star didn’t hold back as he described the moments before the incident. Odom revealed that he had just signed his divorce papers with Kardashian and was ready to “go all the way in” during a visit to a Nevada brothel. “I remember being upset that I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel,” he said.

Odom remembered “having a drink and then waking up three days later with it all over the news.” To this day, he maintains that he didn’t take any drugs that night. However, when he awoke in a hospital bed, doctors informed him that drugs were, in fact, in his system. “I don’t know what they were able to slip into my drink or what,” he said. “When I woke up, I couldn’t walk or talk. So it took, you know, it took some months of rehabilitation and a lot of prayers, a lot of determination.”

The ordeal left Odom reflecting on his life choices and purpose. “Now my mission is probably to help people who have the same problem, who couldn’t help themselves, be able to understand addiction and understand that it’s a brain disease,” he explained.

When co-host Jackie O asked if the experience had changed his outlook, Odom responded, “Yeah. You have nothing to do after you beat your death.”

Lamar Odom’s 2015 Overdose

For those who might not remember, Odom’s overdose occurred on October 13, 2015, when he was found unconscious in the Nevada brothel. Medical reports at the time confirmed “cocaine and opiates” in his system. The world watched as his estranged wife, Khloé Kardashian, stayed by his bedside, refusing to leave until he woke up from a four-day coma.

Odom later revealed during a 2018 interview with Kevin Hart that he had suffered “12 strokes and six heart attacks” while unconscious. Doctors were astonished by his recovery. “All my doctors that see me say I’m a walking miracle,” he said. “Every day I’m alive is much better than the alternative.”

Odom’s recent revelations highlight a more personal and vulnerable side to a retired NBA athlete that many saw only through tabloid headlines.
