TikTok’s Wild Comeback Sparks Reactions from Celebs

The rollercoaster ride over TikTok’s ban has been wild as celebrities and influencers have been weighing in. From makeup mogul James Charles to tech billionaire Elon Musk, here’s the scoop on how Donald Trump’s sudden intervention brought TikTok back from the brink and how the stars are reacting.

With over 170 million users in the US, TikTok’s ban has caused an uproar. The app became unavailable on major platforms after federal legislation enforcing the ban went into effect. Lawmakers cited national security concerns, demanding that TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, sell its majority stake to non-Chinese owners.

The ban officially hit on Sunday, January 19, and users attempting to log in were greeted with a message stating the app was no longer accessible. But just as TikTokers were preparing for a grim, dance-free future, Donald Trump stepped in with a promise to reverse the ban, sending shockwaves across the internet.

Celebs Speak Out—And It’s Pure Entertainment

As TikTok slowly came back online, reactions poured in from celebrities who couldn’t help but share their thoughts.

Alix Earle, famous for her Get Ready With Me videos, was quick to express relief and disbelief. “You’re telling me that I just spent the last two days crying on here, and now the app is back?” she joked to her 7.2 million followers. “Thank god I didn’t post the last thing I had in the drafts.”

In a hilariously conflicted Instagram video, beauty guru James Charles admitted, “Now I’m rooting for Trump? Ewww… Make America f****** Great Again, I guess.” Charles, who boasts a whopping 40.5 million TikTok followers, called the situation “dystopian” and confessed he felt “pathetic” for being so shaken by the app’s brief disappearance.

Rosie O’Donnell also joined the conversation with her trademark humor. In a video filmed with her family, the comedian exclaimed, “Okay everybody, [TikTok] is back. Why is it back? They banned it! Literally, it was banned and it’s already back… Are they trying to make us go crazy?” Rosie even joked that Joe Biden might’ve had a hand in its unexpected return.

Elon Musk took a more serious tone. The Tesla CEO and X owner has long opposed banning TikTok, citing freedom of speech concerns. But Musk didn’t miss the chance to point out a glaring imbalance. “The current situation where TikTok is allowed to operate in America, but X is not allowed to operate in China, is unbalanced. Something needs to change,” he tweeted.

The Big Question: What’s Next for TikTok?

Trump’s decision to put the TikTok ban on pause has the internet buzzing, but questions remain about the app’s long-term future. As Trump prepares to begin his second term in office, all eyes will be on Washington, DC, to see how this drama unfolds.
