Brad Pitt’s Formula One Movie Stunt Stirs Drama at Las Vegas Grand Prix

Fans at the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix got more drama than they bargained for when a racer dramatically fainted on the track. But don’t worry—it wasn’t a real medical emergency. It was a staged stunt for Brad Pitt’s highly anticipated Formula One film, F1

The dramatic moment was caught on social media. It showed the performer playing Sonny Hayes, Pitt’s retired race car driver character, collapsing onto a thin mattress for one of F1’s scenes.

Some fans initially panicked as they were under the assumption that Pitt was in danger. However, sources quickly clarified that it was one of the actor’s stunt doubles performing the fall. Pitt, looking as cool as ever, was spotted chatting with the performer on set shortly after.

In F1, Pitt’s character makes a comeback to the high-octane world of racing to mentor a rising star, Joshua Pierce, played by Snowfall actor Damson Idris. For greater authenticity, the film’s fictional team, APX GP, has its own Instagram account. Following the dramatic “crash,” the team posted a tongue-in-cheek update:

“Yesterday was not the day we hoped for,” the statement read. “Sonny’s qualifying crash was a tough moment for the team, but the good news is he’s feeling better, though still dealing with some soreness. Thank you for all your support and messages. It means the world to Sonny and the entire APX GP family. We’ll keep pushing, together.”

Filming for F1 kicked off in 2023, with Pitt and Idris shooting at real-life racing hotspots, including the Mexico City Grand Prix, Daytona International Speedway, and Silverstone Circuit. The production even enlisted Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton as a producer and advisor to ensure the movie gets every detail of the racing world just right.

Deadline quoted Director Joseph Kosinski last July, “We’re shooting at the actual Grands Prix; there are certain aspects of this film where we’re working in very, very tight windows, shooting on the track, between practice and qualifying sessions, in front of hundreds of thousands of people.”

Joining Pitt and Idris on this star-studded ride are A-listers like Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Simone Ashley, and Tobias Menzies. With a release date set for June 27, 2025, F1 is already revving up to be a must-watch blockbuster.

Between Brad Pitt’s star power, thrilling stunts, and Hamilton’s expert touch, this movie promises all the adrenaline of a Grand Prix—minus the risk of a real crash.
