Timothée Chalamet Surprises Fans By Attending His Own Look-Alike Contest
Celebrity look-alike contests are fun in their own right but the recent Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest became even more entertaining when the subject of the competition appeared in the flesh.
That’s right. The American-French actor made a surprise appearance when he gatecrashed a fan-organized look-alike contest in Lower Manhattan, New York. Delighted to see the real deal, Chalamet’s followers rushed to pose with him while wearing the costumes of his most popular on-screen characters. Though things got a little chaotic, his bodyguards were thankfully by his side.
As word spread, participants mistook each other as the real Timothée Chalamet. At least one look-alike got arrested. An associate of the host, Paige Nguyen, told the Associated Press that it all “started off as a silly joke” but “turned [into] pandemonium.”
The Washington Square Park event was advertised through flyers distributed around the city. YouTube personality Anthony Po was the man behind the affair. Po previously hosted several doppelgänger events but last Sunday’s contest was among his most successful, with thousands confirming their attendance. This time, a $50 cash prize was up for grabs.
Competitors were given a chance to embody Chalamet in onstage interviews. They were asked about Kylie Jenner (Chalamet’s rumored girlfriend), how they intend to improve the world, and their proficiency in French (a language spoken by the Willy Wonka actor).
Ultimately, look-alike Miles Mitchell prevailed, winning first place in his purple Willy Wonka suit. Staying faithful to the character, Mitchell sprinkled the crowd with candy from his briefcase. “I’m excited and I’m also overwhelmed,” Mitchell commented. “There were so many good look-alikes. It was really a toss-up.”
According to 27-year-old Lauren Klas, a great Chalamet doppelgänger is “all in the nose.” She added, “All of his bone structure, really.”
The Hollywood celebrity was spending time in New York due to a sports drama production entitled Marty Supreme. Slated for a 2025 release, the film follows the story of Marty Reisman, a hustler playing for bets who becomes a top ping-pong player. Reisman earned 22 major titles and was the oldest racket athlete to win at 67 years old.
Much of the project’s details remain undisclosed but we do know that Chalamet’s co-stars include Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Descher, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler, and Odessa A’zion.
By showing up unannounced to his own look-alike contest, Timothée Chalamet gave fans a moment they won’t soon forget. Moments like these are a reminder of why Chalamet’s charm and spontaneity keep his fans coming back for more.
