Nobody Wants This Will Return for Second Season
Since the TV series Nobody Wants This premiered last September 26, the show has been sweeping viewers off their feet and amassing a dedicated following. Just two weeks after its debut, the streaming network announced that it’s been renewed for a second season!
The news was confirmed by Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, during the Bloomberg Screentime gathering in LA.
The series’ second chapter features new showrunners and executive producers, namely Jenni Konner and Bruce Kaplan. The creator of the show, Erin Foster, will retain her role as executive producer together with Konner, Kaplan, Oly Obst, and Steve Levitan. Interestingly, Kirsten Bell has dual roles as the lead actress and as a member of the executive production team.
Nobody Wants This was well-received by the streaming giant’s subscribers. In its second week, the rom-com registered 15.9 million views, surpassing another hit series from the same network “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” which earned 13.1 million views.
Erin Foster described working on the show as one of the most memorable moments in her career, saying, “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me.”
She continued, “The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”
Konner, meanwhile, was all praises at the prospect of working on the show with Foster. “It’s a dream to be working on Nobody Wants This,” Konner remarked. “Erin is the rare creator with a crystal clear voice and a genuinely collaborative spirit.”
Nobody Wants This follows the story of Joanne (Kirsten Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody). When they meet at a party, sparks fly even if they make an unlikely pair. Joanne is a host for a sex and dating podcast while Noah is an unconventional rabbi.
As their tale unfolds, viewers see them deal with the realities of modern romance, their vastly different outlooks, and their well-meaning but sometimes disruptive families.
So, if you’re loving Noah and Joanne, stay tuned because season two is coming out in 2025!
