Caroline Calloway Claims She’s Staying Put Despite Hurricane Milton
Caroline Calloway, dubbed the “world’s worst influencer,” has stirred controversy once again by refusing to evacuate her Florida home ahead of Hurricane Milton. The self-proclaimed Instagram scammer used her social media account to announce her decision, stating, “So if you’ve been following Hurricane Milton, I’m going to die.” Her home in Sarasota is in a “mandatory evacuation” zone, but she remains defiant, asserting that she’s not going anywhere.
Calloway shared a video of Tampa Bay Mayor Jane Castor warning residents, “Those who stay behind will die,” yet she appeared unfazed by the advice. Echoing the warning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) also issued the following statement on October 9, “This is a very serious situation and residents in Florida should closely follow orders from their local emergency management officials. The time to evacuate, if told to do so by local officials, is quickly coming to a close.”
Attempting to justify her stance, she declared, “I can’t drive, first of all. Second of all, the airport is closed. Third of all, the last time I evacuated for a hurricane, I went to my mom’s house in Northport for Hurricane Ian,” which she described as “very traumatic.”
While she admits to being “a little concerned,” Calloway seems more focused on her social media presence than her safety. “We have food but it’s kind of scary… I’ll keep you guys updated,” she said while reassuring fans that she is preparing for the storm by filling a tub with “backup water.”
Despite the warnings, she seems more interested in promoting her new book “Elizabeth Wurtzel and Caroline Calloway’s Guide to Life.” “It’s about to come out if I survive! It’s an advice book 😉 Cute!!!!! <3,” she teased her followers on X.
Calloway rose to fame in 2010, captivating social media users with glamorous glimpses of her life at the University of Cambridge. However, her journey has been marred by allegations of scams and failed ventures, including charging fans for workshops that never happened and squandering a six-figure advance on a novel she never released. She even launched her own skincare line, Snake Oil, to mixed reviews.
Now residing in Florida after reportedly fleeing New York City with a staggering $40,000 in unpaid rent, Calloway’s decision to stay behind during Hurricane Milton is raising eyebrows. While many are concerned for her safety, Calloway seems to prioritize her online persona over practicalities, leading to questions about her judgment and future as a social media influencer.
As the storm approaches, fans are left wondering if Calloway will emerge unscathed—or if this will become another chapter in her unpredictable saga.
