Daisy Kelliher’s Fertility Journey: “I Now Have 13 Frozen Eggs for the Future”
As she prepares for the upcoming fifth season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, set to premiere on October 7th on Bravo, Daisy Kelliher is being refreshingly honest about her journey through the egg-freezing process. At 37, the reality TV star recently went through her second round of egg retrieval and shared her experience with fans on Instagram. In a series of candid posts, she explained why she chose to undergo the procedure again, sharing the highs and lows along the way.
In her first post, Daisy shared a selfie from the clinic, dressed in a hospital gown and blue hair bonnet. She looked calm but admitted in a follow-up video that she was feeling tired, bloated, and crampy as she lay in the clinic bed after the procedure. Despite the discomfort, she said, she said that she “went in quite prepared this time,” having already gone through the process once before.
This second round of egg freezing was done in partnership with Apricity Fertility Clinic. Daisy explained that her goal was to retrieve five eggs.
However, after the procedure, the doctors were only able to secure three eggs from six follicles. “I was pretty upset. To have an expectation and to not reach that expectation was obviously very disappointing, for me personally physically it’s fine but mentally I find the whole thing so draining.”
Nine months ago, during her first egg retrieval, Daisy had 10 eggs frozen, which made this lower number difficult to process. She admitted it led to intrusive thoughts, but she’s now feeling better about the outcome. In another post, she shared a smiling photo of herself after the procedure, hoping to inspire and inform other women who may be considering freezing their eggs.
“I took my future into my control and I have 13 frozen eggs to use if I wish to do so in the future,” Daisy wrote, adding, “This doesn’t guarantee a baby, but it guarantees that I did what I could for when the time is right.”
She offered words of support to anyone going through fertility struggles, expressing her gratitude for the overwhelming love and support she’s received.
Daisy first opened up about freezing her eggs earlier this month in a video, explaining why she decided to go through with it. “The reason I decided to freeze my eggs is because I was 36, now I’m 37, and I am still single. I would like the option to have a family,” she said. While she hopes to have children one day, she added that if it doesn’t happen, “that’s okay.”
