After 20 Years, Ken Jeong Tells Wife, “You Still Complete Me”

In an industry where celebrities marry, divorce, and change spouses far too often, American comedian Ken Jeong and his wife Tran Ho Mark are still together after two decades.

Jeong commemorated the event with a refreshing and heartwarming Instagram post. He included a photo from their September 2004 wedding and the words: “Twenty years down, forever to go. You still complete me, Ho. ❤️”

Before Jeong became a popular Hollywood actor, he was a doctor. He met Ho at a mixer for singles held at the Los Angeles hospital where they were both employed. The 55-year-old recalled their first meeting during a 2015 podcast.

“We both realized—oh my God, this is amazing. She made me laugh. She was really the first person I ever met that made me laugh so hard. She’s just so funny,” he narrated.

“We really bonded by our love of comedy. You don’t meet a lot of people in medicine, much less date them, who like that, but we had that in common,” Jeong reminisced.

Even when Jeong exchanged his stethoscope for the stage, the actor often credited his wife for supporting his professional pursuits.

After landing his breakout role in the 2009 movie The Hangover, Jeong received Ho’s blessing to briefly appear in the nude in one of the film’s scenes.

“I got her permission. I’m not stupid. I ran it by her before I ran it by Todd Phillips, he said, referring to the production’s director.

“I’m very blessed to have a supportive wife,” he continued. “In fact, she said this will be a feel-good movie because every guy will go home feeling good about themselves.”

Ho was undergoing breast cancer treatment and taking care of their young daughters when he was offered the role but she still urged him to be part of the film.

In an article for HuffPost, he wrote, “I was going to turn it down, but Tran encouraged me not to. She would not let her diagnosis change our lives or strip us from our dreams.”

“For as long as we’d known each other, she’d been my biggest champion in my efforts to pursue a career in comedy. She knew this was my chance, and again, she selflessly put herself second,” Jeong reflected.

To this day, Jeong’s role as Mr. Chow in The Hangover remains one of his most famous on-screen characters. Aside from returning for its two sequels in 2011 and 2013, Jeong landed roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Ride Along 2.

From 2015 to 2017, he starred in the sitcom, Dr. Ken, which was based on his life as a doctor.
