Oasis Reunion: Noel and Liam Gallagher Are Set to Perform Together in 2025

Rock band Oasis recently announced a surprise reunion tour after a 16-year hiatus. Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher have not performed together since a nasty fight backstage at a music festival in 2009.

The band’s joint statement said:

“The guns have fallen silent.

The stars have aligned.

The great wait is over.

Come see.

It will not be televised.”

The 14 dates in the UK and Ireland (spanning Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin from July to August) seem to be just the beginning of a larger tour, as the event page says: “Plans are underway for OASIS LIVE ’25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year.”

On August 28, 2009, Noel Gallagher left the band just before their Rock en Seine festival performance. The sibling fight culminated in Liam smashing Noel’s guitar after he said that he was quitting.

Noel posted a statement on the band’s website: “It is with some sadness and great relief…I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

This breakup occurred after many years of feuds in private and in public. At that point, the band had been performing together for 18 years and had sold over 50 million records.

The brothers have been savage to one another publicly in the years since the breakup. When asked about his brother’s solo music, Noel told The Guardian: “I don’t listen to the albums, because I can’t stand his voice. But I hear it on the radio. I think it’s unsophisticated music. For unsophisticated people. Made by an unsophisticated man.”

In 2020, Liam told Rolling Stone: “If we [get back together] without becoming mates again, I think it would be a fucking waste of time. I don’t think we’d last the first chorus of fucking ‘Rock N’ Roll Star.’ I think I’d end up sticking it on him.”

The tides have turned in 2024. In a video marking the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album Definitely Maybe, Noel said: “When I would sing a song, it would sound good. When [Liam] sung it, it sounded great. I can’t sing Cigarettes & Alcohol, Rock’n’Roll Star and all that. I don’t have the same attitude as him.”

Despite the long-running feud, Oasis has maintained a firm presence in pop culture and the music industry. It has over 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify, although Gen Z listeners were toddlers when the band broke up.

Tickets for Oasis Live ‘25 will go on sale on Saturday, August 31. All dates are expected to sell out.
