After Sex Abuse Scandal, Armie Hammer Says He’s “Never Been Happier”

After allegations of sex abuse and cannibalism emerged in 2021, Hollywood actor Armie Hammer is reportedly broke. Despite the controversies and his financial predicament, Hammer says he’s “never been happier.”

In a rare public appearance, Hammer agreed to be interviewed as a guest on the YouTube podcast Club Random. During the hour-and-a-half-long conversation with host Bill Maher, Hammer claimed his family refused to help him even as he faced financial struggles.

Since reports of sexual abuse circulated, Hammer’s net worth has reportedly gone from $10 million to $100,000 in 2023.

Describing his current situation, Hammer told Maher, “Someone might look at me and go, ‘Yeah, but financially, you’re in a very different position than you’ve ever been in your entire life.’”

The 37-year-old added, “And I look at that and I go, ‘Yeah, And you know what it’s taught me is that I don’t need that because I’ve never been happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life.”

Post-controversy, the actor who comes from multi-generational wealth admitted that his previous lifestyle would have eventually led to his ruin. “I know that that would ultimately lead in one place and that’s death,” he stated.

The Lone Ranger actor explained, “My life was going on a certain way and there was—it’s Newton’s laws right—an object in motion is going to remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. My life was in motion.”

“I was making a lot of money. I was drinking a lot. I was doing a lot of drugs. I was partying hard. I was being real fast and loose about what I put in text messages. And I was also engaging in risky behavior that, if you really think about it, was stupid.”

Life After Hollywood

Since Hammer was forced to leave the limelight, the Call Me By Your Name lead says he’s adopted healthier practices, including morning meditations that allow him to embrace nature while avoiding the toxicity of social media.

“It’s incredibly liberating because so much of my life leading up to there was being preoccupied with how I was perceived, which now you don’t have to care about,” Hammer shared.

“Once everyone just decides that they hate you, you go, ‘Oh, well, then I don’t need anything from you people anyway. I guess I should just learn to be content with myself.’ And then you go do that, and it feels amazing,” he concluded.

Three years ago, Hammer fell from grace when he was accused of sexual abuse by multiple women. He also allegedly sent them text messages describing cannibalistic fantasies.
