Billy Ray Cyrus Divorces Wife After Only 7 Months of Marriage

It looks like country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus is getting divorced for the third time. After a seven-month marriage to Johanna Rose Hodges or Firerose, the Kentucky-born celebrity cited “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct” as the reason for the divorce in his May 22 court filing.

Although we’ve yet to learn the details, Cyrus alleged that he married Hodges under fraudulent circumstances. According to Cyrus, “consent to (the) marriage was obtained by fraud” and he wouldn’t have wedded her “had he known” about it.

Based on the document, each party will maintain separate ownership of their properties. According to ET, the Grammy-awarded celebrity will give spousal support to Hodges during their divorce. He will pay her $500 daily for ten days to cover temporary accommodations while his spouse looks for a new place to live.

Neither Cyrus, Hodges nor their representatives have issued comments on the matter. There has also been no further information about their divorce on their social media accounts.

Their Short-Lived Marriage

Cyrus and Hodges tied the knot in October 2023. They made their home in Tennessee and collaborated on several tracks during their short relationship.

Just last April, Hodges commemorated their six-month anniversary on Instagram by writing, “Life isn’t always easy… but it sure helps when your husband’s also your best friend. Thank you, Lord!”

Who Is Johanna Rose Hodges?

Hodges is a Sydney-born musician who moved to Los Angeles when she was 19 years old. Now 34 years old, she is 28 years younger than Cyrus. Hodges studied at Sydney’s Newton School for the Performing Arts before writing and producing her own music.

On her website, the blonde says, “’I always believed that my purpose on earth was fulfilled by music. And helping people up with a song I wrote gives everything so much meaning.”

“I write from a place in my soul that’s unexplainable and I’m incredibly grateful for this gift that allows me to touch people so profoundly,” she continued.

Her body of work includes the songs “All Figured Out,” “No Holding Fire,” and “New Day.”

Meeting Billy Ray Cyrus

Hodges and Cyrus reportedly met in 2011 on the set of “Hannah Montana,” the television series that starred Cyrus’ daughter, Miley Cyrus, and featured Cyrus as her father on the show. At the time, Hodges was attending an audition that brought her on set.

During a 2022 interview with Ryan Seacrest, Hodges described Cyrus as a “phenomenal supporter of my music ever since.”

They eventually worked together on the song “New Day.” After their track was released in 2021, Hodges referred to Cyrus as a “longtime pal and mentor.”

In April 2022, Cyrus divorced his wife of 29 years Tish Cyrus, citing irreconcilable differences. Cyrus and Hodges began dating shortly after their divorce was finalized. Eighteen months later in October 2023, Hodges and Cyrus celebrated their nuptials.

Was Miley Against Their Marriage?

Fans have since speculated that his famous daughter, singer Miley Cyrus, resents their union. During a recent acceptance speech at the Grammys, she expressed appreciation for different family members but surreptitiously didn’t mention her father.

She also didn’t attend Cyrus and Hodges’ wedding ceremony but was present for her mother’s remarriage to actor Dominic Purcell.
