Adele Shuts Down Homophobic Heckler

Adele Shuts Down Homophobic Heckler

Adele has something to say to the concertgoer who shouted, “Pride sucks!,” on Saturday night. At the time, the British singer was addressing the audience during her residency in Las Vegas.

A video of the incident, shared by Sky News on X, showed the award-winning singer getting heated while calling out a heckler from the stage. “Did you come to my fucking show and just say that Pride sucks?,” she asked.

Not bothering to hide her anger, she continued “Are you fucking stupid? Don’t be so fucking ridiculous. If you don’t have anything nice to say, shut up, alright?”

Her quick rebuke drew praise from the crowd and on social media.

“🏳️‍🌈 This is what an LGBTQ+ ally looks like,” Jason Reid, a writer, producer, and commentator tweeted on X.

Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ political organization in the US, joined the ranks. “Want to know how to challenge bullies and hate this Pride Month? Take a page from the icon that is @Adele. Your voice is powerful in song and in spreading allyship and joy,” a spokesperson wrote.

The “Hello” singer has been a longtime supporter of the gay community.

In June last year, the “Hometown Glory” singer wore a stunning black gown with a rainbow train and dropped “Happy Pride” hearts from the rafters. It angered some fans who expressed their disappointment on social media.

“I used to be a big fan. But now you went against millions of people protesting (leave our kids alone),” one wrote. Another penned, “I didn’t expect you to support homosexuality.” “Un followwwwwwwwwwwwwww,” quipped a third.

The globally renowned singer wasn’t losing any sleep over it. She shared a GIF of Robin Williams giving a sassy send-off in The Birdcage.

She also tearfully paid tribute to the victims of the terrible shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando by wearing the rainbow flag. The vocalist, who was 28 at the time of the incident, instructed the audience to make a “sky of stars” with the lights on their mobile phones before performing her hit single “Make You Feel My Love.”

“The LGBTQA community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m really moved by it,” the English singer-songwriter told fans at the show.

Her recent performance happened in June which marks the start of Pride Month.

The clip, shared by Pop Base on X, earned more than 283,000 likes and 12.4 million views since it was shared on June 2.

However, her defense of the LGBTQIA+ community may have been misplaced as several videos and tweets from concertgoers suggest that the audience member actually yelled, “Work sucks!,” as she was bantering with the crowd.

“Friday’s basically the beginning of my week, you know, because that’s when I work, basically. So it’s sort of like the weekdays are my weekend, an extra long weekend,” she shared on stage. It was then that she was interrupted by the audience member.

“It was all very awkward,” one X user shared. “I was in the section next to him. He said work sucks because she mentioned something about working,” she explained.

This was backed by another fan, who wrote “Hate to defend a m*n but the guy was somewhere behind me and he said “work sucks” not “pride sucks”😭😭. The social media user also shared a video that shows the man actually yelling “work sucks.”

Well, we all make mistakes…
